Yeah, I saw that, too. Obviously if that trade is on the table, you take it and run, but I doubt all 3 of our picks even gets us to #5.

Yeah, this makes no sense to even report. How would the Cavs sell that to their fan base? Zero sense.

Yeah but that is what the Cavs reporter was reporting.  So it came from the Cavs probably so they can drum up interest in the pick since they really aren't sold on anyone likely to be available to them.  Still odd they wouldn't have said it was all 3 picks.  Now if a young guy like Langford was also included that would make more sense from a value perspective.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Moranis, you have good feel for management there. Would they interpret all 3 picks for their 5th pick as reasonable?  Any realistic shot Celts could swing that?  Don't the Cavs have a payroll issue?

If so, that would probably be the pick we would then trade to NO as part of the Holiday deal.

Or just grab Okongwu if available at 5 (should be).

It makes me think that it’s just like here in Boston and they have sports writers that don’t even follow the sport closely and don’t understand the values of players and picks. So the writer does t realize this would never happen and he picked one of a ton of rumors not realizing this would never happen.
Imagine bring a Cavs fan . You have this lousy team and you got the 5 and you then trade it away for 14 and late picks? You couldn’t sell them an injured guy either. You know? It’s not even close.

I am REALLY hoping that the KOC rumor with Holiday/3 picks is just nonsense. Hayward is already a better player than Jrue, never mind adding 3 picks (or pick #5) to the package. Acquiring #5 and re-signing Hayward to a reasonable long-term contract would be much preferred from my standpoint.

This would be a no brainer trade but I don’t see why the Cavs do it.

Taking Okwundu at 5 would be phenomenal.

I agree that would be great but issue here is Hayward might want out and start fresh somewhere else.

No shot at moving those 3 picks for 5 and no they don't really have a cap problem unless they bring back Thompson and Drummond opts in (the latter is almost certain).  If Thompson leaves they won't be under the cap, but they won't be close to a tax team (and then when Drummond comes off next summer they will be way under the cap, even with Love).

I think they might consider something like Langford and the 3 picks for 5 though, depending on what they think of Langford.  Not sure Ainge would do that, but I think that is value you are looking at to move up to 4 or 5.  I also think if Wiseman or Ball falls, the Cavs would take them without giving it a second thought.

Okay, you drive a hard bargain.

I'll throw in Poirier. ;)

If 14 and another first gets okongwu or hayes then make that deal.

Not sure that makes it.sheddjng them from loves salary probably gets the pick though.

But who wants love? Gsw? Portland? Sas?

Derozan, poirier to detroit
Snell, gay and 14 to cleveland
Hayward and love and 7 to spurs
Murray and 5 to boston??
