Yeah, this makes no sense to even report. How would the Cavs sell that to their fan base? Zero sense.
Yeah but that is what the Cavs reporter was reporting. So it came from the Cavs probably so they can drum up interest in the pick since they really aren't sold on anyone likely to be available to them. Still odd they wouldn't have said it was all 3 picks. Now if a young guy like Langford was also included that would make more sense from a value perspective.
Moranis, you have good feel for management there. Would they interpret all 3 picks for their 5th pick as reasonable? Any realistic shot Celts could swing that? Don't the Cavs have a payroll issue?
If so, that would probably be the pick we would then trade to NO as part of the Holiday deal.
Or just grab Okongwu if available at 5 (should be).
No shot at moving those 3 picks for 5 and no they don't really have a cap problem unless they bring back Thompson and Drummond opts in (the latter is almost certain). If Thompson leaves they won't be under the cap, but they won't be close to a tax team (and then when Drummond comes off next summer they will be way under the cap, even with Love).
I think they might consider something like Langford and the 3 picks for 5 though, depending on what they think of Langford. Not sure Ainge would do that, but I think that is value you are looking at to move up to 4 or 5. I also think if Wiseman or Ball falls, the Cavs would take them without giving it a second thought.
