Apparently, we got the 1st done deal of the trade season.

Lakers in: Dennis Schroder
Thunder in: #28 + Danny Green

Quote from: Adrian Wojnarowski
Lakers guard Danny Green and the No. 28 overall pick have been a focus of the trade discussions for Schroder, sources tell ESPN.

Sounds like Rondo's time as a Laker is up.

This feels like selling cheap.    And no I don't want the Celtics to beat it because it would take Smart's contract.

Very good deal for the Lakers.  Green doesn’t have a lot of good basketball left in him, and that pick isn’t worth much.

Surprised OKC couldn’t get more for Schroder tbh.

That is all they could get for Schroder.  Seems weird.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Steal for the Lakers.  OKC gave him away.

Schroder is a decent player but he only has 1 year left on his contract.  Other teams may have had an interest in Schroder but no team is going to get in a bidding war over him.  Considering that OKC isn't taking back additional salary, there's no reason to expect them to get more than a late 1st.

I am a skeptic. I am not convinced by this trade for LAL. Schroder has struggled throughout his career (except for last season) when playing alongside other ball-handlers. I am not convinced he'll be able to adapt and function well alongside LeBron James.

There is a chance LA got better here but more likely to me is that they just downgraded by losing Danny Green (who plays well next to everyone) for Dennis Schroder -- a player who through most of his career has only been of value to his team when dominating the ball and being a complete liability off-ball has been a net negative when used off ball.

Eh, not a big Schroder fan, but he's a decent bench piece, even if a bit of an odd fit.  I wonder what this means for Rondo?  Is he on his way out?  Just being kept around as a defacto assistant coach?

I can see Rondo going across town to the Clips.

I'd have given the 26th pick for him. Don't know how we could match salary though.  Can we buy a trade exception from the Warriors or someone else? What is the price? Doubt the Thunder have any interest in Danny Green.

There were many occasions in the playoffs last year where Schroder looked like the best offensive player in the game and Chris Paul, James Harden and Russell Westbrook were in the game. He looked quite unstoppable at times.

Last year was either an aberration or a major step forward in his development. Sure he was a bit hot and cold in the playoffs, but he tends to be streaky.

Hard to believe the Lakers got him for just Green and #28. That's a steal, IMHO.

Doesn't OKC already have a ton of picks? This feels like them setting up for a different move to me.
