Snell and Kyrie Thomas traded to Atlanta for Duane Dedmon.

What is going on????
ATL creating more cap space. Possibly to sign Hayward outright?

Saves a couple million. Maybe?

The behind the scenes story that comes out will be interesting.

Not sure how I am going to come down off my refreshing high when something is decided.

Someone provide for me the "green" lens if Gordon opts out and just signs elsewhere.  What does this create in terms of space for signing?  Just full MLE?

I have a hard time imaging why Gordon would go to Atlanta if he opts out.  I guess that there won't be many teams that can absorb his (edit) ASKING Price (not contract).  But man Atlanta is pretty bad.

So if Gordon opts out will free agents start to ask why Boston cannot keep its free agents?

Hayward is really the only big name for player and team option right now.  Do you ever think that the league office calls and tells them to keep it going to the deadline to keep intrigue and interest for news?

Atlanta saving money on Dedmon is not good for the Celtics. Atlanta can now afford multiple free agents without needing to do a sign and trade with us. If Hayward wants to go to Atlanta the Celtics are probably screwed.
DKC:  Rockets

Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon

Giving Gordon Hayward's relationship with CBS the logic points to Hayward leaving the Celtics and trying his best to help Cs on his way out.

I brought this up before, as I think it's an alarming issue. Did Danny and Brad make promises they didn't keep maybe because of the emergence of Jayson and Jaylen? I feel like there maybe a young versus veteran dynamic issue that the team won't talk about. Something maybe wrong and may need to be addressed.

Knicks decline team option on Portis, Gibson, Peyton

They could have traded these guys and future 1st for Hayward ... no?

Quote
The Boston Celtics and forward Gordon Hayward have agreed to push the deadline for his $34 million player option for the 2020-21 season back from its original deadline of 5 p.m. Tuesday to 3 p.m. Thursday, league sources told ESPN.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Only if Hayward opts in or agrees on a sign and trade. If Hayward walks, the Knicks can dump their non-guaranteed contracts and sign him via cap space.
