OK it is strange that we haven't heard anything and there's less than 2 hours until the deadline, right?

Yes. I think the deadline is 3:00pm also!

God I hope not.

I doubt it. I imagine the Celtics would rather just lose Hayward for nothing and free up the ability to get under the luxury tax rather than bring bad Drummond whose 29 million salary makes it near impossible.

3rd team might work.

But Drummond was traded last season for just Knight (didnt play expiring) Henson (Trash) and a second round pick. Hayward is worth WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY more than that. They would need to include this years pick, and next years pick.

(Kings for Barnes)

3 team deal with Atlanta maybe,  Cleveland gets a big TPE, Atlanta gets Gordo and C's get Drumm.  maybe next years 1st from the C's and they can take Poirier and Edwards.  Not sure Cleveland will get much for Drummond on an expiring then a 1st and Edwards.  I don't think they gave up much to get him.

3 hours out and not a peep.

I guess technically, if we hear nothing then that means that he opted out.

Wait so what is the actual deadline?
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I figure at this point he’s either opting in or opting out. No trade or anything.

Hayward is a goner

Last night Ainge said his first priority in free agency is getting a wing

Yeah he is either opting in or opting out... no way they keep a trade so hush hush.

Seems to me he's opting out and going bye bye like Al did.  I just don't get the feeling that anything good is going to come from this situation.  Gordon has had a chance to speak.  Danny and Brand both were extremely political.  If an offer was on the table you'd think we'd have heard from Danny about an offer being out there but Gordon has to do what is best for his family.  All Brad said is the player's know I'm there for them and that's it.  The more I write the more I think this ends badly for Boston.  There's a good possibility there are going to be a lot of upset fans at 5:01pm tonight.

that is what I am thinking.
probably him opting out, if he was opting in, I would imagine this would have been done a long time ago.

He said it when getting interviewed by Scal last night. Riased my ears a bit. You'd think of they were running it back with Hayward adding Nesmith adds to the wing spot.

Wondering specifically what the negativity re: Drummond is mainly about.  Is it mostly value to contract (overpaid)?  Is it skillset specific?  Is it something I'm not aware of re: attitude or character?    I see Drummond as a very good rebounder, a good offensive player close to the hoop, an awful shooter, and definitely not someone who stretches the floor.  His abysmal FT shooting is now just bad FT shooting.  Defensively I've thought of him as OK.

Given that this is the final year of his contract, would signing him to a 10-15M/year contract change your view of him?  Or... do people see him as just someone who they don't want/ doesn't fit with the C's?

Just curious -- thanks.

The Boston Celtics and forward Gordon Hayward have agreed to push the deadline for his $34 million player option for the 2020-21 season back from its original deadline of 5 p.m. Tuesday to 3 p.m. Thursday, league sources told ESPN.

Obviously ESPN could be wrong (wouldn't be the first or last time that happened) and the news might not trickle out until later. But the article says the deadline is in 30 minutes.

Drummond has had a Kemba-level horrible supporting cast throughout his career. Very unclear how he would fit in here.

I have a feeling he would be pretty excited finally playing on a real team though.

He is so slow, plodding, unswitchable, no range on his shot and a terrible FT shooter.
A decade ago he'd have been worth a big contract but a player of his type is no longer needed or wanted in the league.
