God I hope not.
I doubt it. I imagine the Celtics would rather just lose Hayward for nothing and free up the ability to get under the luxury tax rather than bring bad Drummond whose 29 million salary makes it near impossible.
3rd team might work.
But Drummond was traded last season for just Knight (didnt play expiring) Henson (Trash) and a second round pick. Hayward is worth WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY more than that. They would need to include this years pick, and next years pick.
(Kings for Barnes)
3 team deal with Atlanta maybe, Cleveland gets a big TPE, Atlanta gets Gordo and C's get Drumm. maybe next years 1st from the C's and they can take Poirier and Edwards. Not sure Cleveland will get much for Drummond on an expiring then a 1st and Edwards. I don't think they gave up much to get him.
Wondering specifically what the negativity re: Drummond is mainly about. Is it mostly value to contract (overpaid)? Is it skillset specific? Is it something I'm not aware of re: attitude or character? I see Drummond as a very good rebounder, a good offensive player close to the hoop, an awful shooter, and definitely not someone who stretches the floor. His abysmal FT shooting is now just bad FT shooting. Defensively I've thought of him as OK.
Given that this is the final year of his contract, would signing him to a 10-15M/year contract change your view of him? Or... do people see him as just someone who they don't want/ doesn't fit with the C's?
Just curious -- thanks.
