Eerily quiet on the Hayward front. Super interested to see what ends up happening.

At this point I'm assuming that all of their efforts to work out a deal have stymied and that unless something changes, Hayward is simply going to opt out and become a free agent.

Then he'll be pursued by Charlotte, Atlanta, Detroit, etc.

I'm really hoping Danny can figure out how to get something out of Hayward leaving that will make it easier to build out the rest of the roster, even if it's just a trade exception.

You know what they say about "assume"....

Just from what I heard from Ainge and Brad last night, I got the vibe that he's moving on.

I feel like Hayward would stay here for one more year before going to those places? But who knows what he's thinking.

I agree.  He can opt in, and if traded during the season, land somewhere better than those teams.  Free agency next year might have better options.   I am leaning more towards an opt in today.  I like that anyway with a short preseason and offseason.  Consistancy may be an advantage.

It's very hard for me to believe that after what he has been through Hayward would opt in to the final year of his deal if he knows that a favorable multi-year deal is waiting for him if he hits free agency.

Yeah it's all guesswork and none of us really knows anything.  We're basically trying to predict the weather by using a radar screen that somebody else is describing to us as they're viewing it through binoculars from an adjacent rooftop.

Does he still have a home in Boston?  It would be tough to bring family to Atlanta, have a home in Boston and Indy.  I know Indy would be ideal, but you need two to tango on that deal and it doesn't seem like there is interest anymore.  Interesting dilemma when you have 4 kids and probably want to grow roots somewhere.  NBA doesn't work that way

Yeah, that really seems to me to be most consistent with what we know of Gordy. It’s really hard for me to believe that he’s going to turn down this final year of big money just to secure a longer-term deal in a place that (a) is not home for him and his family, and (b) will not be competitive.

I really get the sense that right now the two major options are an opt-in and trade/sign and trade deal with Indy or an extension/new contract with the C’s, with Gordy opting-in and playing out his final year here and entering free agency next year as a distant third option.

Celts are limited to where Hayward wants to go to

And even from there, beggers can't be choosers

I can't see why the Pacers would easily give up on Turner. For a player in theory they could just sign outright in a year

On the flip side the Celtics may lose Hayward for nothing, but would have to give up more assets/picks to obtain a player in return. OR salaries they don't want

If Hayward gets fed up, both Pacers and Celtics could come out of this empty handed.  So negotiation skills is crucial

I could totally see Pacers offer Oladipo and Lamb for Hayward.  But Celtics apprehensive to do the deal (taking on injured assets).   Maybe they are trying to find a third partner who is willing to take on Oladipo and Celts come out with a 1st and 2nd.

True.  It just seems to me that if they'd reached the end of the road and a decision already been made (new deal; opt in/out; trade...) that news would be circulating.  But of course that's as much an assumption as any.

Pacers cannot sign Hayward in a year, they will not have capspace.

God I hope not.

Don’t get this if true. Is Hayward really going to sign long-term in Cleveland? Seriously doubt it.  And if not, why wouldn’t both sides (C’s and Hayward) prefer to just have him ride out this year with us, try to win a chip, and reassess next summer?
