According to a league source, the Celtics will receive two future second-round picks from the Grizzlies in return for the 30th pick this year.

Less excited.

Keith Smith is so full of bleep.

Yay. So glad to get two more second rounders who will do next to nothing.

That really really sucks. Wth are we going to do with future 2nds? We really should have offered to give our 2nd this year to make it a 1st.

I'm not sure what you're driving at. Are second-round picks better than I think they are?
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

I don't follow college basketball too closely, so I can't really say anything about Danny's picks. But I'm hearing a lot of people here say that Nesmith and Pritchard are good/great shooters, and all I'll say in response to that is: People said the same about Edwards last year. So I'm not going to get excited about any of the picks unless and until they actually prove useful on the court in meaningful (read: non-Summer League) games.
Nesmith is a lanky guard who shot far better last year than Edwards ever had. Not the same thing.

I have no reason to doubt you, but I'm still not letting myself get excited unless these guys show something on the court when it counts. If Edwards was a bad example, how about James Young? He was supposed to be a pretty good shooter too, IIRC.

Edwards was more of a scorer than a shooter.  Only around 35% in college.  Same thing with Young:  loads of potential, but sub-35% shooting.

Not even on the same level as Nesmith. This dude shot over 50% from 3 on 8 attempts, albeit in a small sample size. Young shot 35%. I swear, James Young lives rent free in Celtics fans' head. Not every wing is gonna be James Young.

While we're on the subject, I will continue to defend the James Young pick.  He had a lot of upside at a time when we needed upside.

It didn't work out.  Upside picks often don't.  But that doesn't mean the thought process behind the pick was bad.

They can be. Many recent strong teams have had 2nd round picks playing big roles for them.

It also would have been unwise to make 4 selections with a pretty full roster
