Heartbreaking news. Grew up on Tommy doing not only Celtic games but Sunday CBS games of the week in the 80's. It's like losing an uncle for me.

R.I.P. Tommy. My heart goes out to you, your family and friends, the Celtic organization and all of Celtic Nation.

You will be missed, but in the meantime, if there is a wait at Heaven's gate to get on the court to ball with the basketball angels, have a Tommy Point while you wait.

What a life lived.

Celtics should wear a black band on the uniform this season, imo.

Also who is going to replace him?

This is horrible news, he was the heart of the Celtics. Been listening to him and Mike since the 80's, this is a tough one.

Always got a little depressed once the second round hit since it went to the national broadcast.

RIP Tommy

I listened to a lot of local NBA games. There wasn't a single broadcaster like Tommy Heinsohn. He had great report with Mike. He so entertaining to listen to. He will be missed.

RIP Tommy

Along with Red and Bill, Tommy was the embodiment of what it meant to be a Celtics.

I am literally gutted right now. Tommy has been part of my entire Celtics life. I honestly can’t believe that he won’t be apart of it anymore. He legit was MR. Celtic: player, coach, commentator, champion.

RIP. You get all the Tommy points today.

Really sad to hear this one.  From C's coach to CBS broadcaster to legendary C's broadcaster -- so many memories of Tommy Heinsohn.

Will be greatly missed.

This gave me a chuckle.  From the Globe:

Quote
Mr. Heinsohn would score 12,194 points during his career, averaging nearly 19 a game despite his habit of smoking cigarettes in the locker room before games and during halftime.

Man this hurts. Grew up listening to him my whole life, and hearing my dad’s stories about him as a player and coach. Hope he’s reunited with Red, Hondo, and JoJo up there. RIP Tommy.

Man, that is awful news. Tommy is truly a legend - not only in Celtics history, but across the NBA and all sports. He embodied what it means to be a Celtic and he will truly be missed.

Officially the worst year in Celtics history.

"Bim, bam, boom, Barros!"

Tommy was the C's #1 fan even when they were terrible. I saw him a few years back at a preseason game, he could barely walk and was in obvious pain.

Spent so many hours with him and Mike Gorman in my ear, keeping me company through times both good and bad. He will be missed.

RIP Tommy

This one really hurts. I’ve never known the C’s without Tommy, I think this is the case for most of us.

Rest In Peace Tommy.
