I’m not really understanding why he would come back when his wife is due mid September (so a few days from now)  and he has stated that he will be leaving the bubble for the birth of his child. He’s also going to have to fly to Indiana from FL when she does go into Labor and if there is bad weather or other factors he could potentially miss  being there. I can’t imagine that not being a huge distraction for him, think it would be for almost anyone..

Also, from a basketball standpoint, is this not  going to disrupt team chemistry trying to reinsert him back into the starting lineup when rotations and roles have been established over the last 10 games, only to have him leave again during the series?  Apologies if this has been discussed, I’m just trying to understand the logic behind it.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

So, take this with a grain of salt, but I read somewhere his wife posted an IG story where she said (paraphrasing) goodbye to Hayward, and remarked when he comes back he won't be the only boy in the family.

Some are speculating this means she and the family gave their blessing for Hayward to not have to leave again. But of course, this is likely hopeful thinking. Also, I don't think it'll disrupt chemistry much. If there's one thing this team has adapted to, it's guys going in and out of the lineup due to injury.

I hope you are right, however, reinserting him into the lineup in the past has caused chemistry issues, since Brad uses him as a point forward and he’s so involved in the offense. It’s not like inserting a bench or role player who you only ask to play defense and rebound. It also seems to take Hayward several games to get comfortable playing again and to get his confidence back, which the team can’t afford in the playoffs.

There's some speculation about that in this thread https://forum.celticsstrong.com/index.php?topic=102718.195

Its totally different since he's established himself as a starter, not a new teammate and he would be replacing Smart- who prefers playing off the bench (said it himself)

Very strange how little information is coming out about Hayward's baby situation...

I am not sure why this would be strange. It is a private matter. The public doe not need to know any details.

Next, I think GH will come off the bench in the playoffs. If he can play 15 to 20 minutes that means less Semi and more rest for the starters. Both are good things.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Yeah, I understand that. I just meant Gordy has answered questions before about her due date, and the 12 September date has come and gone, and I just would've thought there would have been some information floating around generally.

Totally agree about him coming off the bench.Gonna need him against the Heat, who have a pretty good bench.

I think the Cs/Hayward have been a little more cryptic this time around because they wanted to make sure it was actually going to be a relevant factor. If the Cs had lost game 7, it wouldn’t make any difference.

When the announcement was made pre-injury, there were a number of fans (me included) who were skeptical of the decision. With Hayward now having spent weeks at home with his family and with Robyn’s tweet, there is a chance that he will stick around, but I think we should all be prepared for him to leave again...hopefully not at a really inopportune time.

Baby today (now past due date) would be great. Go Robyn.

Hard to imagine Gordy leaving the bubble at this point, regardless of when the baby is born.  I interpret the situation as Gordy/Robin having made their decision and sticking to it.

Hope you are correct.  It’s a personal decision and if they are good with whatever their decision is that’s the end of story.

Right.  I for one would like to know when they are doing the gender-reveal.
