Unfortunately these reports mean little until the refs are actually reprimanded. The fact that Brothers is still a ref unfortunately is all you need to know regarding this league’s lack of discipline.

When Tony Brothers refs in the playoffs (last 16 games):

Celtics: 3-13

Raptors: 14-2

Can that be true?  I saw it on FB, so it’s unverified.

The time out one really bothers me.  A team must have possession in order to call a timeout.  Maybe Lowry called timeout before Smart got his hand on the ball but I don't think the player (was it Annuoby?) had possession.

Not like we were winning the jump ball anyways. Don’t think we won a single one last night.

i just watched the video again.  its plain as day, no clue how someones whos job it is to notice this stuff would miss that.

and for those thinking that the refs always swallow their whistle at the end of the game, remember, the raptors got the ball after Kembas no call and took the ball right to the basket with 2 seconds left and got a foul call

so why do they even publish this report if there isn't anything actually done or changed?

I don't get the review of Nick Nurse's corner play. I see no possibility that his behaviors are not framed in one of 3 options: as a coach box violation, as a coach entering the court or simply an unsportsmanlike conduct.

1) Coach box violation.

The rules say he is supposed to be between his side substitution line and the baseline. That is the coach's box.

Rule 12, section V, item C - indicates that the penalty for coach's box violation is a technical foul.

2) Unsportmanlike tatics: entering the field without permission.

Rule 12, section V, item D defines that unsportsmanlike tatics result in a technical foul. Then, it lists examples of unsportsmanlike tatics, Among them, there is a mention to "A coach entering onto the court without permission of an official".

If we consider the line NOT part of the court, one could even argue that Nick Nurse is not IN the court, but in anyway, his feet is BEHIND THE BASELINE.

3) Unsportmanlike tatics in general.

Let's forget the little rule details. Nick Nurse, who was wearing a grey t-shirt that resembles celtic's green when in quick motion, positioned himself like a player with a body posture typical to players in the corner waiting for the ball. Wasn't it unsportsmanlike enoguh?

The same Rule 12, section V, item D presents only EXAMPLES of what could be considerer unsportmanlike tatics. By using the expression "such as" as listing possibilities, it leaves space for other actions to be ruled as unsportsmanlike.

Yeah, this stuff means nothing to me.  It is not even worth paying attention to, you'll just make yourself angry if you let it.

The NBA has no reason to do anything different, people continue to watch in droves.  So you know they will never deviate from the course.

Truly elite teams ultimately over come anyway.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
And yet the NBA refuses to reprimand their officials.

This is a series altering call, how can they just shrug their shoulders and say "well, we missed it"? Meanwhile, they fine players for criticizing the officiating?

How is that even fair?

They also say the refs should’ve called Powell for a travel with about 1:40 left in the first overtime.

Yeah, but they defend that bogus TO call, etc.  I’m not sure about the proper application of the rule toward Nurse.

So the NBA screws the Celtics and then releases a report that says they screwed them. That's so helpful, thanks NBA. Don't do anything about it just keep on with the bad refs and the bad calls. You are just pouring salt in the wound.
