Excellent win for the Celtics I am delighted Because of  the time difference here in Tokyo I couldn't follow the game Iive at 2:30am. I see from the box score Timelord scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds Did he dominate ? Also noted an impressive 21 points from Marcus Smart. How good were the Celtics ?

Time Lord controls time no matter the location  ;D

Time Lord is still very green ,  he had some great moments when healthy in reg. season games .  He has had limited court time and the pressure and intensity is doubled in playoffs .  And goes up each round.   I think this getting used to the total pressure on both sides of the ball is what he is adjusting to....the highest level of professional basketball.

He learns pretty fast and  predict he ll will be ready with improved play next game .
That means all the doubters like myself are probably wrong lol

5) No Kanter. Brad prob doesn't see him being effective in this particular matchups.

No, it's just that the warrant from Interpol is making him cautious about playing in away games against Toronto.

Mike

Yeah, Enes had a notable grin on his face, as he was able to trick that turkish dude.

Thanks for all the Timelord updates. Even if he is still green it is good to see him progressing and getting valuable play off experience. Can't complain about 5/5 FG.

Combined August 7 blowout with today's blowout looking for clues:

Celtics

FG - 86/179 (48%)
3PT - 33/85 (38.8%)
TO - 36
FT - 29/37 (78.3%)
Def reb - 88
Bench - 191 minutes - 69 points

Raptors

FG - 69/173 (39.8%)
3PT - 20/78 (25.6%)
TO - 31
FT - 36/46 (78.2%)
Def reb - 72
Bench - 177 minutes - 110 points

Toronto is 5th in the NBA for 3PT%
Celtics are 12th

BTW Robert 38 minutes 9/10 (90%) 20 points - 9 rebounds

Raptor's bench - "Robert who? They call him Timelord what?"

Raptors better figure out 25.6% from three or it'll be tee time before you know it.

5) No Kanter. Brad prob doesn't see him being effective in this particular matchups.
6) Rob was very, very solid.
The way the league is getting smaller, it seems to me that Kanter is practically unplayable against most teams. If I were Danny, I'd dump him in the offseason for cap relief + whatever future pick(s) we can get. I'd rather have a guy like Noel (UFA) in case Timelord gets injured once again.

I kind of agree about Kanter. But:
- his contract, if he were to pick his option, is reasonable;
- and it's really hard to find somebody useful for that money, especially if the salary cap will shrink this offseason;
- he also adds some specific skills in the mix of our big men rotation.
Noel is interesting, but it's not like he proved a whole lot this year, although I can easily imagine him being a great fit under Brad. That said, at this point I can imagine literally every potential 5 thriving in BS system (the way he tranformed our game after Horford's departure). The likes of Okafor, Len and Baynes. C's getting Aron back would be great)

Awesome Game 1!

When Marcus is canning 3’s we’re pretty next to impossible to beat.

Solid game by all who played meaningful minutes.

Theis could have a 20-10 if he could hit a layup!
Yup

Great win in a pretty powerful manner)
Again, same feeling I had last time we saw them in the bubble.
What stood out to me were:
1) The way C's started the game.
2) Tatum patience against really tough defenders. This is how you can tell he has matured into a guy, who can actually be a best player on a winning team.
3) Concentration and cohesion on D throughout the whole thing.
4) 3P obviously :)
5) No Kanter. Brad prob doesn't see him being effective in this particular matchups.
6) Rob was very, very solid.
7) Kemba distributing the ball.
8. Not a perfect game, still have a lot of room to improve.

Yes - great start to this game, especially defensively -- and great that they sustained throughout.   It is SO good that Tatum can be patient while other C's take the offensive load.  This bodes well moving forward if the team stays healthy.  Also great to see the adjustment with Rob getting the back-up 5 minutes.  I think Kanter will play a role as the series moves on.

Despite a few lapses taking care of the ball, Theis played pretty well. 13 and 15 isn't too shabby.  Kemba needs to stay healthy.

I think the starting lineup remains the same when Gordon comes back (if C's are still playing).  I have to admit I'd be interested in seeing what starting bigger and bringing Smart and Hayward off the bench might do v. the Bucks.  But hard to watch how things started out today and complain.

IMO Hayward will definitely start off the bench, at least in the first couple of games (assuming all the good things will happen to C's and him personally) and then Brad will watch how it goes. Last season, when Gordon played with our second unit on a permanent basis, he steadily got better and better in that role, so it may suit him this time too.

Lowry is such an underrated player.

We all talk about Lebron and Harden, but Lowry is also up there as the king of flopping and crying during every single possession

I know it's only one game, but it was nice to get a Win "In Toronto".

Beware, Toronto is notorious for rallying from behind in playoff series rounds.
Last season, I believe they fell behind in all three Eastern Conference playoff matchups before coming back to win.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Last season they had Kawhi and they did not play against the Celtics!

They are by no means dead in the water, but without Kawhi it's a different team entirely. He bailed them out in the clutch game after game
