Still can't believe he gave up Brown for 36 y/o Paul George and picks.
And didn't take Giannis + Portis for Brown, Hugo/Baylor, and picks.
Brad will be held against this.
Yep. We should be looking at a Pritchard, White, Tatum, Portis, Giannis starting lineup. Bench consisting of Connely, Hauser, Harper Jr, Walsh, Queta would have been serviceable enough. Maybe they are able to entice a Beal or KCP to join for the vet min. Brad should lose his executive of the year award for making such a blunder. Celtics would have been a top 3 team in the NBA, but instead they are likely a first or second round playoff exit. Once again..
The only problem with your logic is that neither of you know what was actually on the table with Milwaukee. The idea that it was done if Brad gives up Baylor/Hugo is assumed, not confirmed. And unknown whether JB indicated he wouldn?t sign longterm with the Bucks. If it was there for the taking I agree with you it seems the sensible thing to do.
Of course there?d be folks here saying the future of our franchise is in the hands of a man with an injury waiting to happen.
I mean, the top insider in the NBA (who I believe to be credible) is saying this. So I don?t see how it is a problem with logic or an assumption.
Thursday, Shams Charania of ESPN came out and shot that one down more definitely than anything we?ve heard to date. On the Pat McAfee Show, Shams was asked about the extension rumor and basically scoffed, shaking his head and making it clear that there was no validity to that report.
The breakdown with the Giannis, Boston conversations was very simple. The Celtics did not want to give up Hugo Gonzalez and/or Baylor Scheierman and another draft asset when the Bucks asked for that.
I think NG is right: nowhere has it been reported that if Boston added Hugo, Scheierman, or a #1 pick that the deal would have been done.
Even Shams doesn't have specifics on whether it was Hugo and Scheierman, or Hugo or Scheierman, nor does he list the draft asset. And again, we don't know that that offer was an automatic yes from Milwaukee.
It sounds like Milwaukee was debating which direction they wanted to go until the end, but their slight preference was always for Miami's package for whatever reason.
