Screw it. I might get some flak for drafting him this high, but he had a stellar 18-19 season, being a 1st teamer in All-NBA and All-NBA Defense teams.

And he has no problem deferring, even though he himself can be a #1 option.

Dwight Howard

I thought Dwight might fall, but it seems not. Dude had a phenomenal peak. 3 straight DPoYs.

My problem with Dwight so high is I think you can get a very similar defensive oriented, board grabbing, limited offensive center later in the draft that will give you almost everything Dwight does but getting that player much lower in the draft.

It's a matter of value and I think you can get way better value with other players later.

The one thing that Dwight has over any comparable rebounding/defensive center is Dwight is a better scorer.  Limited in *ways* he can score, sure, but those other defensive centers are never going to lead their team in scoring (at 20+ppg) on a team that is a title contender.

Perhaps in a league with so much scoring, teams won't need volume from their center position.  But if they do, then Dwight can provide that where others cannot.

Joel has few weaknesses outside of his wackiness at times. But with the right horses on the team he will be special.

He's an exceptional passer as well. Double him and teams will pay a price.
