Lets not sugarcoat it.  Horrible mind fart by Smart that basically cost us the game.  We knew we had injury problems and no way we were winning in overtime if it came to that.

You just can't grab the arm of a three point shooter.  Yeah he wasn't really into his shooting motion yet, but when has that stopped refs from making bad calls against us in that situation.  You have to just put your hands straight up and hope he misses.

Of course Smart is great player, and the heart and soul of the team.  He will make amends for it before the end of the season.  But that was our most clutch player making one of the dumbest plays I have seen in a long time.

Draymond Green has done the same, and he's been a key to their success.

Let's hope Smart wises up, and leads by example instead of these terrible brain farts tonight.

It appears Smart will never learn. This is not the first time he has made a dumb foul at the end of a game. There has been numerous cases of him doing it.

While I love what he brings to the table, he doesn't always play very smart. Playing with emotion is one thing, but he goes too far, IMO. Not sure if you stuck around, but he went after one of the refs after the game. Had to be restrained. I'm guessing he might get suspended for that. That's certainly not helpful to the team, especially with all the injuries they have.

I truly hope he learns from this, but thinking he won't.
I feel like every championship team has a guy like this that brings a lot to their team. Draymond, Ibaka, Rodman, Artest, KG, you can go on forever really. Most of the great teams seem to have a guy that has tendencies to go too far. Whether it's cheap shots (Draymond), trying to fight guys (Ibaka), or being somewhat insane (Artest), they all played a role.

I think you just have to take the bad with the good with Marcus. We all know who he is. He's the truest Celtic on the roster

the loss suck but i am more concerned about our overall health going into the playoffs, with about over a month left in the season, yesterday's game

Hayward never returned for the 2nd half
Kemba did NOT play OT while he was supposed to be on minute restriction but had to come back cuz we were blowing a lead
Brown's hamstring also did not play in OT
Tatum was sick (not a concern but still effected yesterday)

our bench suck and with these 4 guys out together, i don't see us winning much games. Heck, these 4 only started 19 games together!!!

I hope Tatum, Hayward, Kemba, Jaylen are all out, and Smart suspended tonite!  Danny deserves to see "HIS" bench play a whole game and get routed by the Cavs!

This is on Danny Ainge. The team hasn’t been healthy all year. Hayward is guarenteed to be injured at anytime. There are major questions on Kemba’s knee the rest of the way. And what does Ainge do? Sits on his hands and can’t get one vet for the bench. The bench is loaded with inexperience and wastes like Poirer. Ainge failed miserably helping this team out at the deadline and it’s already going to cost them the 2nd seed and in the playoffs. Ainge needs to start taking some heat.

100% agree with you. He did a horrible job with the bench leaving it with all inexperienced players that can’t help you win right now if heavily called on.

I'm not a big believer in getting angry over things you can't control.

Getting angry isn't going to make anyone healthier.   And the only thing that matters for this team is to get healthy.

No team can win an NBA game while missing all five of their five best players.  You certainly aren't going to win a 5 minute OT without them.

I also don't see the point in getting angry over fantasy roster moves that were never really going to happen nor getting angry over fantasy roster moves that might have happened but would have likely made zero difference.

On to Cleveland.

But that's just my $.02.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Is there a team in the NBA that can win if it is missing ALL of it's top five players?   What team has THAT kind of depth?

I don't think people actually believe everything they say on here. It's just a bunch of (understandable) venting. I 100% agree with you tho.

Injuries happen but when you leave the bench full of inexperienced players then you blow big leads at home against an average team.
Not doing anything to a weak bench with a bunch of rookies can derail the season. I’m not saying they need all stars on their bench just one vet maybe that can come in and calm things down a little and score? You can’t expect every starting player is going to be healthy every night and when your trying to get the 2nd seed games like last night can’t happen.

Also agree. Health is No. 1. We didn't think we'd have such a great group when Horford and Kyrie walked, so I'm still pretty pumped we are where we are. But we are still a flawed team without solid depth, so if we don't have a healthy top 6, we're in trouble in the playoffs no matter what seed we have. On the flip side, our healthy top 6 allows us to compete with everyone.

Robert Williams was all I was interested in and I thought he did well. Looks bigger and stayed down.
Romeo showed his hops on that dunk and his length on defence..

Not sure why people don't like to say it but Smart was one of the biggest reasons this team lost last night, much more than Stevens.

Smart guarded LaVert more than any other player and gave up 18 of the 42 points LaVert scored up until Smart fouled out.

Plus, Smart made the stupid foul that sent LaVert to the line to tie it. There was no need for him to reach in like that. Bad, dumb foul and Smart's defense on LaVert, the guy he was supposed to be responsible for, was not good.

Another reason...lack of difference making players. After the half, the C's had no Tatum, no Hayward, Kemba for like 9 minutes and then Jaylen got hurt and couldn't finish the last 8 minutes of the game. Then Smart fouled out to start OT. And Smart and Brown didn't exactly play great defense in that 2nd half which made everyone else missing even worse.

And yes, not the best job by Stevens. He needed to find someway to stop the bleeding and couldn't. The bench gave Stevens lots of minutes, tons of rebounds and 40 points but were awful down the stretch and in OT.

Team loss, but I imagine I slice up the blame pie differently than many.

I made this point about Smart last night and some got offended, but it's undeniable.

That wasn't the first time an opposing guard has ate Smart alive.
