How do you like the Return on the KG/PP to nets trade now?

Every year this trade gets evaluated on here as there have been continued returns through trade downs and progress


We now have

-Tatum (future perennial all star?)
-brown (future on and off all star?)
- Romeo (future solid rotation player with upside?)

-You could also argue the effect of the trade made us Bad and we tanked and got smart (future dpoy)


Also remember that Danny’s plan A was to trade KG for Deandre Jordan and the nets trade was the backup plan . Lol

I think Danny did the absolute best he could, given the circumstances...

He held onto the Big Three of KG-PP-Rondo as long as he could..then when the right opportunity presented itself he pounced.

And what a MAGICAL run we had in 2011-12...WOW.

Hated to see them go but PURELY from a NOSTALGIC standpoint. It was clear that MIA was just about unbeatable - even though we ALMOST pulled off the impossible in 2011-12.

Want to explain exactly how Ainge was supposed to land SGA and how was he doing it with assets from the original Nets trade which would make bringing it up here pertinent?

With the Nets pick that was traded for Irving.  Sexton was 8th, SGA was 11th in the same draft.

I don’t think any Celtics fan can have a real issue with how the trade went down.

That being said, at the time it was pretty gut wrenching.

The way I look at it, I would have traded PP and KG at the end of their careers for a young PP straight up and I would have felt like we got the better end of the deal.  Let's assume that JT is a young PP.

On top of that the Celts got Jaylen Brown, who is looking like a potential all star.  If we put him in a fringe all-star category (like a Khris Middleton), we traded old PP and KG for young Paul Pierce and Khris Middleton.  That seems like a win to me.

To be clear, I am not saying that the games of JT and JB translate into Middleton and Pierce, but the level of play is similar.  Also, I am optimistic that JT and JB can be better than Middleton and Pierce.

Add in a couple of nice free agent signings and now we have a contender!
