Miami has agreed to trade Justise Winslow, Dion Waiters and James Johnson to Memphis for Andre Iguodala, Solomon Hill and Jae Crowder, league sources tell ESPN. No picks in the deal.

And no picks?

Memphis taking a risk with an often injured Winslow

Great trade for Miami, I think they are the clear #2 in the east right now
Why exactly. I am not sure they did anything in that trade that made them better than Toronto or Boston.

Yeah, more just shuffling the deck chairs. I definitely think the Iggy for Winslow part of the deal was a downgrade for MIA, but they probably got a slight upgrade with Crowder/Hill. Still, while I am not a fan of Waiters, the dude can light it up when he is feeling it. It's always good to have somebody on your bench who can win you a playoff game from downtown.

If they somehow acquire Gallinari without giving up any of their 'core', then that could be a scary move, but it's possible Crowder might be the replacement for Gallo.

I don’t think Crowder is a replacement for Gallo.  Crowder and Hill both came up as being included in this trade on Twitter last night, before the Gallo portion was even mentioned.  Also, why would Memphis take on additional bad salary to get rid of useful players if they weren’t part of the additional structure?

If the Gallo portion comes to fruition, I expect it to be Myles Leonard and Olynyk going to OKC, Gallo to Miami, and Andre Roberson plus a 2nd round pick to Memphis, with the Heat also removing protections on at least one pick they owe to OKC.

I am surprised by the amount of people that think Iggy is some difference maker. He averaged 5 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists last year and shot 33% from three. He also hasn't played organized basketball in almost a year. Maybe he is an ok 8th or 9th man, but he is hardly moving the needle at 36.

I agree - that championship experience is hard to quantify and he'll certainly be rested but he hasn't been the same player the last 2-3 years. Defending teams like us with big wings is probably a big consideration though.

I did a terrible job explaining the 2nd part of my post. I saw the news about Crowder/Hill last night, as well. I just meant that with reports saying that the Gallo deal is falling apart, Crowder may be the best they can hope for (and will play a much bigger role) unless they can turn the Gallo deal around. TP of course for proposing a legal deal that makes that deal possible  :D

I am just amazed he got $15 million for next year. If he had played this year I doubt they'd offer him that much given his likely production based on what we saw his last two years in GS.

Keeps KAT happy, but I think he will find soon that it doesn't really make them a better team.

I'd be stoked if I were Wiggins. Playing in the Warrior culture under Kerr with Curry and Thompson would be pretty exciting.

If Wiggins turns out to be anything like Harrison Barnes for GSW,  it will be a good trade

but I doubt it.  Must be one of the worst/softest defenders I have seen

If he is the only one guarding the basket and you attack the basket, he will step aside.  He won't take charges , won't attempt to challenge you

Same goes for rebounds. Doesn't box out

So what will GSW get for Wiggins when they inevitably try to ship him out of town?

Not that we didn't all know a D'Angelo Russell trade was likely at some point, but is this the quickest a player has ever been traded after signing a max contract with a new team?

You have Blake Griffin re-signing then being traded, and now Russell leaving Brooklyn to take the max in GS and being traded.

It's a weird world where a max contract doesn't even buy you a full season of security.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Pick is top 3 protected in 2021, unprotected in 2022, per a subsequent Woj tweet.

It’ll be interesting to see if Wiggins becomes the ultimate “change of scenery” player, or if he becomes salary to trade for another star this summer or at the deadline.
