Morris would be great Bench depth for us assuming he comes in and accepts a bench/6th man role.

Just from quickly looking it up, from what I can see, Markieff Morris has been on-and-off one of the better combination defenders as a pick-and-roll defender, iso defender, and postup defender over the last 5 seasons. He struggles in a year in one of the categories while the others are good, but as a whole, I could definitely see how getting him in a consistent role in a good system could potentially turn him into an under-the-radar juggernaut defensively.

Plus, he just saw how CBS got his brother a big fat paycheck. He would have to be motivated.

Depends on the season, but he has had very low usage seasons in his career, which is something Marcus hasn't really had.

What? Go look at their basketball reference pages, just flat out not true.

Marcus has a lower career usage rate and both bounce from 18.5 - 24 depending on the team or year.

Both dudes will stop the ball and shoot, just who they are.

Markief lit us up for 20+ points in that horrible loss to Detroit last month. Maybe Brad saw something there that piqued his interest. He does play some Center right?

I shouldn't have used the term "usage rate." I was pointing out that his last few years in Washington, Morris averaged 10 shots a game.

Honestly, I could be wrong, but I always felt like he was more reluctant to shoot when I watched him in OKC and Washington.

Or maybe the Celtics made an offer for Christian Wood, the Pistons said no but how about Morris, and thus the Celtics and Pistons have talked about Morris.

Marcus career average shots per game 10.3
Markieff career average shots per game 10.0

Marcus average shots per 36 13.7
Markieff average shots per 36 13.9

Marcus average shots per 100 poss. 19.0
Markieff average shots per 100 poss. 19.2

Markieff has been a lower minutes guy last few years but he still gets them up at basically the same rate as his brother. Marcus has been shooting a bit more last 4 years, Markieff shot a bit more his first four years. (Marcus is naturally shooting a lot more for the Knicks of course)

The Boston Celtics reportedly made an offer to the Detroit Pistons for their backup center, Christian Wood. Wood is averaging 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds on 57% shooting through 49 games this year. According to The Athletic's James Edwards III, they were rebuffed.13 mins ago

I'm guessing Boston put in a slightly better offer than Houston did, who were reportedly in talks with two Eastern Conference teams about their centers. Houston could offer very little. I'm guessing Ainge offered a little more.

Report: Celtics interested in Markieff Morris,

I think this would be a very good move

Markieff is bigger than Marcus. Can guard centers. And doesnt have a need to chuck up shots
I would welcome Markieff, but he definitely chucks up shots just like Marcus. Lol.
