Makes some sense.
So that means they wanted to waive Poirier? Green can be waived without any money carrying over...

I wonder if GSW was requiring a team to take BOTH players.

SMH seriously? The Sixers got Burks and Robinson for three 2nds??

Is Danny asleep??
C's probably got out bid on that front by the 76ers willing to take both and give up 3 2nd rounders.

Would you want to give up a first round pick? Eat two roster spots? The 76ers had 8 extra second round picks and could outbid anything short of a first round pick.

I would have gladly given up the Bucks 1st + Green for Burks. Not Robinson, just Burks.
That's nuts.

Would you say the Clippers should be willing to trade a first round pick for Brad Wanamaker?

It's a late 1st and we can't keep all three (Bucks, Celtics, Grizzlies). What about guys like Saric?
So you think the Clippers should be willing to give Boston a 1st for Wanamaker, just to be clear?

Nah I wouldn't lol. I guess you got me there.

We did have 2nds to offer though but reading these other reports, it's looking like GSW required a team to take back BOTH Burks + Robinson. We never had a chance.

Didn't know that about Green but if that's the case I'd have to imagine so OR we weren't willing to top Philly's draft picks offer enough for them to let us just take one.

Sixers did well. Added some more depth. Their bench isn't a strong point but it is serviceable at this point.

Wings - Thybulle, G.Robinson III, A.Burks, Korkmaz
Big Forward - Mike Scott
Big Man - Kyle O'Quinn
Guard - Neto, T.Burke

The backup guards is the real weak point.

I think they can get by with the rest of the guys in the playoffs.

Hmm ... maybe they should play Alec Burks at the point and stay big on the perimeter for the whole game. Not ideal but it is not like their PGs are bringing much to the table.

If they could find one more trade to add a serviceable PG, it would really help their bench out.

Yeah I mean if we offered 2 seconds and they went to three, why keep going? They have 8 second round picks incoming we can't outbid them on that front without going to a first.

That's good value for the Sixers.  The 2nd rounders given up aren't particularly good.  I figured they'd lose the Hawks or one of the Knicks 2nds.  I haven't seen anything about who the Sixers are going to cut so possibly they are looking to add a 3rd team or make another trade.

I'm sure they'll look to see if they can dump whomever they have identified to cut just to save some cash. I doubt they'll find any takers but who knows.

If the Sixers are relying on Glen Robinson and Alec Burks to improve their rotation, they are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

The Celtics don't need those guys. The fact that Ainge isn't making trades indicates he isn't desperate, like Elton Brand is.

Burks can score, and score in bunches. He'd be the perfect remedy for our bench scoring (or lack of at times). I didn't really care about Robinson, but Burks I really wanted.

Oh well, hope guys like Saric remain an option. Though I've resorted to the likelihood that Ainge won't make any move today. Still possible he signs someone in the buyout market later on.

He can, but are you sure he will, especially on a team like the Sixers without floor spacing? Have you thought about how bad of a defender he is? How he can't create for others?

This trade made me smile, because it means the sixers are desperate and have no better options.

I pretty much agree with this.  Burks and GRIII might be an upgrade to their team, but the Sixers problem is so foundational in nature that changing out a couple of windows isn’t going fix anything.  They have won only one game this year on the road against a team with a winning record. (Against Boston, so we remember it more).  The losses earlier in the season were generally close, but now they are getting routed away from home.

They’re not getting out of the first round if they can’t fix that, and it has nothing to do with lacking either of the players they just acquired.

Celts apparently made an offer for Christian Wood of Detroit.

Makes sense given their low ambitions, but he's not someone you can count on.

Wood is playing really good basketball right now. He'd be great depth for Poirier and a second.

Report: Celtics interested in Markieff Morris,

I think this would be a very good move

Markieff is bigger than Marcus. Can guard centers. And doesnt have a need to chuck up shots

Wood and Morris for Poirier, Edwards, and a draft pick makes sense for both teams.
