I'm saying that Russell and Covington's trade value are roughly the same.
Russell cannot be a lead shot-creator on a contending team. I'm not sure he can be the second option, and I know he will get his shots up, which means he won't let himself be the third option.
Semi-efficient shot-creator guards who average 20 PPG on losing teams just aren't that valuable. There's always someone like that. Russell's role on a winning team might be best as a sixth man. Plus, he is awful on defense.
Covington, on the other hand, has a specific role on a championship team. Every contender needs a big wing who can defend Doncic, James, George, Leonard, Siakim, Giannis, etc. Covington is one of the best at it. On top of that, he stretches the opposing defense with deep threes and a quick trigger. That helps the offense he plays for a ton.
