The Celtics have said in the past that they have no interest in trading any of their core five players: Hayward, Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart.

On the Monday Lowe Post podcast, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said, “I feel very confident that he [Hayward] will not be traded.”

That’s pretty strong wording for a journalist who is very careful about how he phrases things on podcasts. He didn’t say Hayward absolutely would not, but it’s obvious Boston isn’t trying to move him.

That would see to take Boston out of the big-money deals like Andre Drummond.

Yup, though reports have been pretty clear that they are aiming to have a max slot for Giannis. Which signing Hayward would not preclude but I am thinking their current strategy would be to let Giannis try and sell a teammate of his choice on joining him. This all will pivot on if Giannis signs the supermax.

If Giannis makes it known he is going to take the supermax after the season (aka he wins a title and decides to sign it) then suddenly the Heat could sign Hayward this offseason and still have a max slot for the next offseason as well.

Gordon picks his option for $34M
Then extends for 3 years at around $ 20 / 19 / 18 M respectively.
This will be huge for future cap management
