There needs to be a coordinated approach to getting Tacko on this all-star team.

I am voting every day on alarm.

glad to see this

but can someone explain why Tacko is getting this type of hype vs other giant/tall players drafted before him?

nobody cared about them (2nd round/undrafted)

so why Tacko?

Personality probably.

And an awesome name. Great story.  Smart.  Personable and he seems like he's working hard at getting better.
Yup

Frankly, I think it would be a disgrace.  And while it’s fun and all, the fans (unwittingly) are being very disrespectful of tacko.  I how scal talked about how much he hated the treatment.  Tacko, I imagine, wants to become a genuine nba player.  Fans are treating him like a freak show.

Phenomena aren’t always so easy to explain.  But part of the reason you’re noticing more may be because he’s in Boston.  Didn’t Boban also get a lot of attention?

I see your point but there is a good part of the fans that genuinely cheer for him to succeed. What did you think about Lin Sanity?

tacko has said he loves the positive energy he gets from fans and I think he said it helps motivate him. So there’s that

I gave this very common reaction to Tacko-mania some thought. And have rejected it out-of-hand..

First: the all-star game itself is a circus. Other than primary selection being literally a popularity contest, not only between players who act like snarky teenagers when they get "snubbed" by also by the general public, the whole game is a joke play around. That PG from Atlanta is a fine enough player, but he should be nowhere near a game that supposedly features only the best players in the NBA.

Second: Tacko comes from an extremely poor country, and any career benefit which could help him get a massive contract would potentially allow him to realize dreams of giving back to his native Senegal. I think it is ONLY people with this moral panic that genuinely think that Tacko himself wouldn't find his selection a) funny as f***, and b) potentially life-changing, and c) generally good for the world of NBA basketball.

Third: he is a great guy. Tacko is obviously not so stupid to actually think he is anywhere near the league of other bigs who will get selected, he will take it for what it's worth and no more. It will have literally no bearing on his career (as far as I can see).

P.S I just voted again, on a different voting platform, and am going to double down on my efforts. But hey, you vote for Drummond champion...

He really appears to have such a great personality. So easy to root for.

Every second he’s on the court I’m rooting for him, not just because he’s a Celtic. I really wanted to see him drafted somewhere, but glad we were able to scoop him up after.

His personality and apparent work ethic give me reason to believe he could be a legit player I’m this league.

I truly don’t know if the Garden roof will stay on if he ever hits a three. And he takes it all in great stride. In no way does this appear to be mocking or facetious (like it felt at times with Scal), fans generally want to see him do good on the court. Even his teammates ate it up when he finally got the call from Brad (also showing some personality on the sideline!) to make his TD debut.

He packs the Red Claws games. And, is widely popular everywhere he goes.

Good publicity for the G-League, the NBA and his home country of Senegal.

Im pro Tacko getting a shot to play because its an "Stars" game and we know name recognition has always been a huge thing in voting often more so than a players production. Tacko is a name and giving the fans who they want to see is still the most important thing for an All star game.

Fan voting only accounts for 50 percent of the All-Star vote, so even if Tacko gets a million votes, he's not getting in, but also that means Kyrie won't get in ahead of Kemba.

Tacko isn't an All-Star, but don't they HAVE to put him in the Rookie game? That would do wonders for the ratings.

If nothing else materializes, Tacko could be a prop in the dunk contest.

So far the talk about Tacko has nothing to do with basketball.... Use him for ratings, he can be a prop....

Which is exactly why some (including me) think is disrespectful to the kid even though most have the best intentions
