From B/R:

"At 110,269 total votes, Tacko Fall is 6th in front-court votes for the Eastern Conference"

That would be outrageous!

Lol I just saw that and chuckled. I was a bit surprised Irving was beating Walker in voting (though very close). Irving has hardly played.

Really hoping Kemba edges him out. Irving is so undeserving and it also takes one spot away from a guy like Brown who is on the cusp. I mean, as it is, Irving probably sits out the game anyway, but it's not really fair for him to add another All-Star selection to his resume in a year like this.

As for Tacko, I just couldn't do it. Tatum, Hayward, and Giannis in the front court is biased enough from a Cs fan perspective.

I think it's mostly little kids that vote for all stars. Name recognition plays a big part as well.

I wonder how many votes he got from Senegali NBA fans? With foreign players there is always the possibility of bunches of international votes going to players, ala Yao Ming during his run.

Now, if there aren't a lot of international votes for Tacko then that means there are a lot of Celtic ballot stuffers at work. You know I can't help think the last time the Celtics had 4 players with legit All-Star possibilities were the two Big 3 runs. Would giving Tacko a vote be the equivalent of voting for Scalabrini in 2008 or Greg Kite in 1986? Because back then, that would be seen as being a crazy, crazy thought and I am sure, if it did happen, there weren't a lot of votes for those guys.

glad to see this

but can someone explain why Tacko is getting this type of hype vs other giant/tall players drafted before him?

nobody cared about them (2nd round/undrafted)

so why Tacko?

Its no surprise. I actually predicted it, although it could still change. Walker has been playing in Charlotte while Kyrie has played and won in the NBA finals with Lebron. Add the fact that his game resonates well with youngsters and casuals you could see why he is more popular.

Unsurprising to see meme players like him and Caruso get votes, however disappointing it is.

Pretty crazy that DRose has more votes than Beal...

He seems to be a great dude. I hope he stays a Celtic for a long time.

Yeah, it's not like his height is unheard of. I mean, Manute Bol got all kinds of attention back in the day. Yao was obviously a sensation (and a star). I remember Gheorge Muresan being kind of a big deal in the 90s. Shawn Bradley was never all that popular, but played decently throughout his career. Boban has all received some fan fare, but it seems to have died off a bit.

I would say from listing off those guys above, people will probably chill on Tacko after a year or two. He is just the newest of the bunch and people like new...but he does have a great personality, too.

There is a reddit of nothing but Boban holding things.

Some of them photoshopped, others maybe not. I can’t explain the attraction, exactly, beyond the obvious “he’s so big” factor, and the fun ppl have pointing it out.

E.g., Boban holding a can of coke:

Given this, I’m expecting further developments from WCT.
