This is the worst trade proposal I've seen on this forum. Trading a 21 year old All-Star calibre forward for this pu pu platter?! ::)

I don’t think Turner could be classified as even an average rebounder. His highest rebound % is 13.9, and he’s currently sitting below 11 - Theis is sitting over 15 and was at 16 as a rookie.

For the discount Smart is in terms of contract, and for the intangibles and leadership he brings, I wouldn’t even consider a deal based around them.

I'd probably keep Smart too, but this idea that Turner is going to kill our rebounding when we've been playing Horford and Theis at center the last few years don't make much sense to me. 11 vs 15 or 16 is cherry picking - their career numbers are much closer than that, with Turner playing every night alongside Sabonis who is by far the best rebounder on either team while Theis was usually the best rebounder in his lineup.

PTS / REB / BLK / 3PT
--------------------------
13.6 / 6.7 / 1.3 / 1.1
13.3 / 7.2 / 2.7 / 1.0

That's Al Horford and Myles Turner last year, and Turner played slightly fewer minutes. Horford was the superior passer, but Turner had double the blocks, double the free throw attempts, more rebounds, and a higher 3PT%. This is not to say I would have preferred Turner last year, but I think it does shed some light on the level of criticism here and unwillingness to trade any valuable asset for him.
Those raw stats might be similar but Horford is a Porsche for Turner.
Turners feel for the game is at a paleolithic stage of development.
Exactly. Turner can shoot, but he's not a good offensive player by any means.

I'm not claiming that he's Al Horford, though. In this thread there is heartburn about trading Theis and Kanter for a guy with similar or better raw production to Horford -- and while counting stats don't tell the whole story, they aren't worthless either. Turner rebounds and scores at similar rates, had the highest shot blocking rate in the league, is under 25, but we're worried about which backup centers are traded for him? As someone else mentioned, with even slight improvement he's a 15/9 center with elite shot blocking just entering his prime, at a time where we don't have one guy on the roster worth more than 20 minutes a night at center.

That is a terrible trade for Boston and frankly is a terrible trade for Indiana.  Houston makes out like bandits in the greatest highway robbery ever.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

So for Boston this trade is

Jayson Tatum, Robert Williams, Romeo Langford and Vincent Poirier

For

Clint Capela, TJ Leaf and Jakar Sampson?

I think this a massive overpay that makes the team worse

Pacers could use a starting PF. Maybe Magic are a option as third team.

Aaron Gordon to Pacers

Smart, a C's first, and GW to Magic

Turner to C's.

Magic would be a tough team to play with Smart and Isaac.

We lose Smart and we lose our toughness,

They said the same of Perk, KG, Baynes and Al. Someone will step into the role if we move on from Smart. Probably Brown.

In a 4 for 1 trade directly with Indy, the Pacers would need to cut and eat over $7 million worth of salary or trade them away before completing the deal. So not only would Indy be giving up the best player, they would have to eat at least $7 million in salary or give up picks to trade those players in salary dumps to teams that have space on their roster and in their salary situation to do the trade.(There are not a lot of teams, if any, that can do this at the moment)

Seems to me Indy would be able to close a deal for Turner that wouldn't require them to dump three current players and either their salaries or draft picks in the process.
I don't think that would be as hard as you make it out to be and Indiana has some players they could easily cut and not miss at all.  It also wouldn't be that difficult to find a 3rd team to take someone like Poirier for a pick either.

Something like this.

Boston - Turner
Indiana - Kanter, Langford, G. Williams, 2020 BOS 1st, 2020 ATL 2nd (from BOS), 2020 BKN/NY 2nd (from BOS - the lesser pick between BKN/NY is the one at play, so the BKN one), cash - (the 2020 ATL 2nd ATL traded to BOS, though if it is 55-60 it goes to Philly and can't be in this trade - so it likely will be a piece to the Pacers)
Atlanta - Poirier, A. Johnson, 2020 MIL 1st, cash

In that trade, Indiana only has to cut 1 player and can use the cash from Boston to do it.  The Hawks pick up another 1st rounder next year for taking on the 2 small salaries into their cap space.

Not sure that really is enough value for the Pacers for Turner, but I think it is a fairly reasonable trade for all 3 teams, especially if the Pacers like Langford or Williams.

Ouch for Boston. No dice for Indy, either.

Houston gets arguably the two best players in the trade, and doesn’t have to surrender any draft capital.  That’s an Executive Of The Year winner of a trade.

To Boston:     Capela, TJ Leaf, Jakar Sampson, pick from Indy.
To Houston:   M. Turner, J. Tatum
To Indiana:    PJ Tucker, R. Williams, Langford, Poirier

Boston solves bigs issue.  Capela is on great contract.  Sampson has toughness and energy off the bench.
Theis gets more minutes at PF with Tatum gone.

Capela, Kanter, Theis
Hayward, Theis, G. Williams, Leaf
Brown, Hayward, Sampson
Smart, Brown, Green, Edwards
Kemba, Smart, Wannamaker (sign Waters this year instead of waiting?...yes please)

I think this makes the C's tougher.  BUT, of course I would chicken out and not do it due to Tatum's potential...

Ugh another terrible trade lol.

Hayward is expecting to get paid, and I can most likely see him rejecting his PO.

I don't see how a trade centered around Hayward for Turner/Lamb can be bad at all for either parties.

I know Hayward will probably get back to his usual form of maybe averaging like 17/5/4, but I would rather try to grow and develop our young wings and see if they can take the step forward later this year.
