I said before the season the bench was weak and the inexperience worried me. But, with a healthy club with Theis starting the rotational bench of:

Smart
Wanamaker
Timelord
Kanter
Semi

Has ended up being extremely solid. Nothing spectacular and yes, it lacks someone with an offensive punch, but Stevens has been trying to keep two scorers on the floor at all times to mitigate that problem, so when healthy, I am not sure it is a problem, especially since the team has a decent offensive hierarchy of:

Kemba and Hayward
Then Jayson and Jaylen
Then Smart and the center on the floor
Then everyone else.

Haven't been crazy about how Edwards and Grant Williams have played and will reserve judgment on Langford and Waters until I see them play 15-20 games for the club.

This is spot on. We take a hit with injuries, but when the club is healthy having 2 of our four scorers on the floor at all times solves a lot of problems - especially when we know Marcus is evolving into a very capable playmaker and Wanamaker, while not flashy, is a solid pro.

Also, when GH is back I think we’ll see the team run more - he really liked to collect the ball and push it. With our capable finishers that leads to easier buckets and fouls drawn. There have been times early in the season where I see shades of 1980s running basketball. Wanamaker has really impressed me with his ability to finish on the break.

IMO when Hayward comes back it sits Semi down more often, which is good in my book. Wannamaker is okay, nothing more.

We need one more veteran player that is solid, who fits in.

I think we just have a bad bench combination because we have players that have glaring weaknesses.

For example, Kanter can’t defend a lick out there in the perimeter. So he needs to play with guys like Smart, Brown and Ojeleye who all work hard to get through screens.

For example, Edwards (not sure why he still gets minutes tbh) is a volume shooter and a liability on defense. So he needs to play with Time lord to help cover up the inside.

CBS though generally plays Edwards and Kanter simultaneously and from the eye test, seems like it’s usually bad news for us.

Agree, bench has been pretty brutal, but these guys we drafted aren't going to get really comfortable til they're playing 20 minutes a game.  That's not going to happen with our starters, nor should it.
The idea I would try, radical perhaps, is take out the starters all at once around the 4 minute mark and put in our summer league team en masse.  Time Lord, GW, JavG, Carsen, and ****ers.  They played SO WELL as a group, with great cohesiveness!  Let them play for about 8 minutes, and then bring the starters back.  It would give them a routine 16 min a game, and keep the starter fresh at about 32 min.  The young guys would be able to play "their games", not feel like they have to just pass the ball to the starter or two that is always kept in the game with them.
Just a thought!

December 14 is just 2 weeks away.

Trading season starts again.

But even if the Celts have a weak bench, Celts are playing well right now.
So might as well hold off on trying to upgrade the bench.
Why mess up the chemistry.

Going into the season, I would say inexperienced bench and defensive big man spot were the biggest issues.

So far this season, Theis has been a very pleasant surprise and Kanter, now that he seems to be back into the swing of things post injury, has actually been a positive on the floor when they have used him.

Overall, I’d still like to see if they can grab another more solid big but I do think the lack of bench production is an issue, particularly now with Hayward out where they cannot stagger minutes to have two of Kemba/Hayward/Tatum/Brown on the floor at all times. I wish there was a way to snag a guy like Iguadola. Can handle the ball, can play good defense, and a veteran with championship pedigree. I think he could do a lot of wonders for a very young bench.

I'd take a chance on Jamel Crawford. A scorer off the bench that could be counted on would be nice.

Danny every single GM in the nba missed out on Terence Davis, twice.

Undrafted and doing a nice job off the bench for the Raptors
this may say it better.

I honestly love their idea of letting of young guys come off the bench to develop, but man they look so awful! If you was just a fan of the NBA and didn’t know who our rookies were and just watched them, you would most certainly believe they were trash and useless. I’d give it another month or 2 to see if they can catch a groove. Only thing I’d chance is swapping Carson and Tremont

Too old.

He would be a defensive liability.

ideally, GWill and Edwards start finding the mark consistently where they can be relied on scoring double digits if getting extended minutes.  if that happens, I think we're just fine.  Green can also provide an offensive spark.

what I'm more concerned with is a legit-sized PF off the bench

With the cap situation of the Celts right now, that's very hard to find.

doesn't change it from being what concerns me most
