Well concussion protocol definitely seems to apply.  If MRI/Xrays were negative, then that's a good thing.  But I'd still expect Kemba to miss 1-2 weeks with concussion protocol.  You can never be too safe when dealing with head/neck injuries.

Yup, Celtics do feel a little cursed when it comes to injuries at times.  First Hayward, and now Kemba.  It's not as frightfully bad as Hayward's injury 2 seasons ago, but it looked that way at first.  Wishing Kemba a safe and full recovery.  That was a bullet dodged for Walker if recent reports are true.

From the Celtics: Following testing at a Denver hospital, Kemba Walker has been released to rejoin the team for its return to Boston. He will be re-evaluated tomorrow and further updates will be provided as appropriate.

Sounds like good news.
Just bumping as the most significant post in  the thread.

All things considered, it was the best outcome possible. Fortunately, it was just concussion like symptoms and no structural damage to his neck and/or spinal cord. Thank God.

After I saw that, I was numb with my eyes watering (and get sad now as I type this.)

Anyway, hope we see him back soon! Godspeed Kemba!

Probably.

But if we see Kemba back on the court within a couple weeks, it will be a miracle compared to how bad it first looked.

I'm guessing Kemba returns right around the time Hayward returns

This team has been cursed with injuries, since 2009. And sadly, quite a few of them are very significant ones.

Hopefully Kemba's isn't that.

Few? I don't think few is the right word. Almost every year we are trying to contend, there is a significant injury that costed us a playoff series or 2. And they always happen in the worst time possible.

2009 - KG down, lost in the 2nd round
2010 - Perk down in game 6 of NBA finals that could have sealed their trophy
2011 - Shaq down, Rondo down. Would easily demolish the Heat if healthy
2012 - Jeff Green out for whole season, Bradley missing playoffs after the first round
2013 - Rondo out before the all-star break, ending a what-could-have-been dynasty
2016 - Lost Bradley for the rest of the first round. Would have at least make the 2nd round if he was healthy
2017 - IT hurt just after reaching the ECF.
2018 - Hayward already out for the whole season. We might have been in the finals already even if Kyrie was out.
2019 - Hayward's injury carried over into the season as part of his progress. As a result, it ruined the chemistry of the players

Going back to that 2010-11 season, this was pretty bad too!

I had to go back and watch this because I remember I was at this game and remember how eerily similar this injury was to what happened to Kemba.

Weird thing is what happened to Marquis didn't seem as bad as what happened to Kemba, yet Kemba sounds (and HOPEFULLY) will be okay where as I don't believe Daniels played another game after this.

And then, this (in some ways) led to Ainge making that ill-fated trade which sorta ruined the rhythm our team had that season.

But the point is, I agree.....feels like our team is jinxed and something like this didn't help in our long list of bad luck.

Isn’t the “jinxed Celtics” idea only valid as to its relativity to other teams?  It may be true that C’s have had worse luck than others (certainly the deaths of Bias and Lewis stand out, but those situations precede the current era).   Not sure that C’s injury luck of the last 10 years isn’t too far from typical for NBA teams (or at least similar to some), but I haven’t time or inclination to research.

TP thank you. You are at risk of injury every time you step into any sporting arena. All this talk of 'curses' is beyond ridiculous. Anyone who says otherwise should really work on improving their intelligence.

The Celtics say that, after further examination, Kemba Walker is doubtful to play tomorrow against Sacramento with a neck sprain

#Celtics  list Kemba Walker as doubtful for Monday's game against the $Kings, meaning he has not been placed in the league's concussion protocol.

I'm confused as to what exactly happened? Put another way: What was the injury?

Marquis didn't play another game during the 2011 season, be he signed back with us in 2011-12 and played 38 games, then played 53 for the Bucks the following season

He also had a bruised spinal cord, as opposed to a neck strain
I'm bitter.

Interesting.

I still don't expect to see him for a while.

Kemba hasn't missed a game yet this season, has he? He's probably due for some time off..

Just thankful the injury wasn't serious.

We survived a TOUGH 5 game western swing...finished 2-3 but had 2 tough losses to both DEN and LAC by small margins...All without GH.

Patrick Flopperly will NOT go 4-7 from deep against us next game.

Get some rest Kemba...I have a feeling that he will need it as we gear up for a DEEP run next year.
