I am as bummed out as the next guy / gal that things didn't work out in BOS for Kyrie but I still hope we can keep his reunion classy...

He is still well-liked around the league with the players.

A steady stream of boos and we can then count on one hand the number of stars that will come to BOS in the next few years.

Oh, he will absolutely be booed and it won't be pretty. Hopefully it doesn't really have a detrimental effect on signing future players.

Oh it WILL - make no mistake about this.

Especially when our heart and soul (Marcus Smart) has gone on the record in support of Kyrie - not placing sole responsibility on him.

We got Big Al...but traded IT4 in an emotional departure....AD even mentioned this when he was contemplating his next team last year...

Big Al left for our bitter rivals PHI....

KD turned us down in favor of GSW...

Stars pay attention to this stuff.

We keep this bitter hatred up for Kyrie Irving then we'd better HOPE that Jaylen and Jayson turn out as good as we HOPE they will.....and THEN we'd better hope that they re-sign.

A bridge can be burned from EITHER end...I hope BOS keeps it classy.

We don't have cap space to bring stars in in the forseeable future no matter what.

But even ignoring that, who is really that interested in signing someone who goes "wow, fans don't seem to like this guy who promised to stay there and then turned crazy ran away in free agency"? If players are that afraid of passionate fans, it's probably better to have that come out BEFORE they sign here, instead of seeing them pull a Carl Crawford
I'm bitter.

I get that.....but I still think it's better to have some light boos...but mostly cheers.....just let it go.

If we were like 4-11 then I could expect boos...but this team just took the BEST team in the NBA to overtime last night......on their HOME floor.....while they had ALL their players and we were missing perhaps our best player?

The future is bright in BOS - even without Kyrie.

Best just to let it go.

No. It won't. The booing of players has never, to my knowledge, ever impacted a player's decision to sign somewhere.

If anything, future players might look at the Celtics as a good landing spot because the team, you know that entity that pays the player, even does classy things like do tribute to players even after they leave.

Not that I really think it moves the needle one way or another (money, chance to compete, and role is like 99% of what matters).  But if anything, I think booing might help the appeal of Boston, as it shows a passionate, engaged fan base.  We've already heard Kemba say several times how great it is playing in front of a crowd like Boston, how loud the Garden gets, this is why he came here, etc.

I think we can have the best of both worlds here.  Have management take the high road with the video package, showing what a classy organization it is, while the fans boo Kyrie out of the building, showing how passionate they are and how loud the Garden gets.  Make other players wonder what it's like to have that home crowd behind you.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Where should the line be drawn with this video tribute stuff?  Irving was only here a couple years and his first year he didn’t play in the playoffs, and his 2nd year ended in a big playoff disappointment.  I get IT’s tribute but that was a little different.  He was after all king of the 4th. Lol

Why does he deserve a tribute? He wasn't a part of our ECF run and deserved the lion's share of responsibility for the ****housery that happened last season, is this worthy of a tribute video? I hope that the Celtics organisation comes to their senses and cancels the event, we'd cheapen the value of Celtic tribute videos by giving this two faced saboteur one.

Jeesh. Terrible idea. Not only does he not deserve one at all, but he will be booed out of the building all night, regardless of tribute video.

giving Rondo, IT, Perk, PP, KG and the like a video tribute makes a lot of sense.  most of the fans in the stands are extremely grateful of their efforts for the team and knew that they gave everything to the C's when they were here.

It doesn't feel like Kyrie fits in that category.  But they will probably do something either way.  I wish they wouldn't, it seems fake.

^this. I just don't think that Kyrie gave us anything but trouble. Sure he was a huge part in getting us HCA in that 2018 ECF run, but him missing the playoffs completely means that the championship odds he gave us that season were minuscule, and him sending us to Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. creek last season more than made his time with us a massive negative.

Boo him hard during the video tribute.

All his promises were just lies. He can take his speech somewhere else

They should play the video of him saying he wants to stay here and have his jersey retired in Boston. I’m sure he’ll get a standing ovation.
