Who didn't see that coming though. They lost arguably the best basketball player in the world in Kevin Durant, and their team's second best player is out for the year.

The loss of Iggy was also a huge blow as far as veteran leadership and being the "glue guy" goes.

Iggy is cooked.

They are going to be a low 6-8 seeded team, first-round exit. They cannot compete with the contending teams of Clippers/Lakers, or the upper-tier team of the Rockets/Nuggets.

just out of curiosity which do you rank higher contending teams or upper-tier teams?

To me =
Contending teams = best/highest chances to win NBA title
Upper-tier teams = teams strong enough to reach to Semi-Finals/Conference Finals but lose.
Mediocre teams = first-round exits, barely make playoffs or miss playoffs.

They'll move Russell at the deadline I think. Especially if they think Thompson will be back sooner than later.

Gallanari could be avalible, fits their style and OKC's Rebuild.

Kevin Love could be an option. Move Green to the SF

Wiggins possibly?

They have options, they wont be great, but they still can make some noise in the playoffs if they can make a good move and Thompson can get back. If not, still make a Move for some one like Love and picks, and roll it back next season.

But I do like how wide open things are now, the Clips aren't even 100% and they look good.

There are a lot of good teams - I agree with you there. But I don’t see it as wide open; barring injury, I don’t see anybody beating the Clips in a 7-game series.

GSW is a hard-capped team, which severely limits their ability to improve during this season.
No Gallo, no Love, no D-Lo trade for the next 8 months at least.

WCS will make a big difference for them.

Pretending Marquesse Chriss is a center (or even a decent player) is doing a lot of damage to their team.

The Warriors still have 3 healthy past all stars. They have 3 max players, and also a potential max player in Green, who decided to take less money to stay. Not many teams in the league can say those things. They have the third highest payroll in the league too. Last I checked, Shaun Livingston was considered a very good player off the bench, and WCS is a good player too. Maybe Steve Kerr may actually have to finally be a competent head coach.

They have 3 all star (one of whom is D-Russ, maybe the worst modern era all star), two rotation guys who are both Centers, and the rest of their team is G-league levels. They have no above replacement level wings. So ya, they are gonna have some bad nights.

I think they will be fine once they get Looney and WCS out there.  Russell and Curry have been awful shooting, that will straighten itself out a bit.  They could use a better SF than Glenn Robinson, but I think they still make the playoffs.  That said, if this continues I think they are going to have to trade Russell for several lesser parts which might make for a greater whole.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think a Russell trade is inevitable, whether it happens this season or next.  I don't believe the Warriors "plan" of keeping Steph, Klay, and Russell together for the long term.

Trading DLO to the Wolves for pieces like Covington (high level role player in position of need) and Culver (high potential prospect for the future when Curry/Klay/Draymond age) makes sense for the Warriors imo. In the meantime I still see their squad making the playoffs, it was the duo of Curry/Green that powered the Warriors to the success they had in the past few years.

I think it's important to wait until at least 10 games into the season before making any concrete conclusions.

With that said, the Warriors just have so many fringe NBA players in their rotation.  I don't care who you have at the top of your roster, it's hard to win with a bunch of G-League All-Stars filling out your rotation.

Ya I hate to say it but missing the playoffs might be the bets long term outcome for them. their pick this year is top 20 protected so it ensures that they keep their pick and takes all pressure off a Klay return this year as well as giving guys like Steph and Dray a break form the constant playoff runs. Then they go into the summer with Klay coming back, a lottery pick, D-Rus as a trade chip and no more hard cap.

Do you rate them better than the Celtics?
