Theis starting at center = recipe for disaster.
Brad Stevens will never learn, will he?
Who should we play at center, then?
Kanter, Robert Williams, Tacko Fall, Vincent Poirier...take your pick.
Tacko and Poirier have yet to play an NBA minute. RWIII doesn't look ready at all, and Kanter is a horrible defender. None of them have convincing arguments to start. Theis knows the system, and can move his feet. That alone make him a no-brainer, at least at this point.
I agree. RWIII looks like a complete project that isn't ready. Tacko is perhaps the biggest project of all time.
I know Theis might get abused by Embiid tonight but on most nights he's perfectly adequate. He fits in seamlessly and is low maintenance.
This is key. Stevens is the type of coach who will rotate starters based on matchups. Theis might be the starting center a lot this season but if he's ever not going to be, it'll be against someone like Embiid.
I think we see Kanter tonight.
