I think Brett Brown survives the season, but if they are an easy 2nd round out, or worse, a 1st round victim, he is gone the day after the last loss of the year.

Strange stat

DeAndre Ayton only takes 2.4 FTAs per game. He takes 15.4 FGAs per game but only gets 2.4 FTs? He even shoots 81% from the foul line. How does a guy his size with his athleticism get to the FT line so little?

I got curious to see how much he got there as a rookie. You know he hasn't played that much this season due to that suspension. So it turns out it is not just an anomaly. Only 2.7 FTAs per game versus 12.4 FGAs per game as a rookie. A bit better but still terrible. 75% FT accuracy as a rook.

Imagine how efficient Ayton would become if he got to the foul line more. He shot 58.5% from the field last year, 52.5% this year. The guy nails FTs at a high rate for a big man. He just never gets there.

His free throw rate is 15.4 free throws per 100 shot attempts. I am not sure I have ever seen a FT rate that bad from a player with his physical traits and scoring prowess inside of 15 feet. It is not like he is out there shooting lots of long jump shots and 3s. He is in the paint!

Shocking

Edit: I did a quick player season search on basketball reference (above 16ppg, FTr below 20%). One other big man has done this. Vucevic. Has done this 5 teams times. 5 of the last 6 years actually.

Jokich 30/21/10 tonight, only 1 turnover.

Dude can't jump 6" off the ground and yet dominates games.

And some fools have the audacity to say Bird couldn’t crack the modern game.

Bird would average 40 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assist, 5 steals, a block in the modern game....

Not sure which fools are saying that lol, the modern era is perfect for his skillset. Could definitely be a strong GOAT candidate if his health holds up in this era.

It’s mainly just average joes on social media, but I see it a lot.
