There's really no way to draw conclusions from one game, pro or con. It's gonna take a while to gel even in a best case scenario.

Heard this all last year. Funny Clippers and Lakers played efficiently with new pieces.

Huh? Lakers played efficiently? They lost by a similar score as we did, and LBJ & AD both had poor games. Basically a career game from Danny Green kept them from losing by 25+.

You really think this is about losing? Watch the Laker game. They lost to a vastly superior team. My point here is that the Celtics played poorly, not that they lost. By the same token the Lakers played well but lost to the team that is probably going to win it all this season.

Yeah, after last season, I'm not buying any of the "be patient," "it takes time to gel," "it's only one game," or "they can't shoot this bad very often" crap. We've heard all of the excuses a bazillion times. These players need to put a good product on the floor soon.

Then that requires patience and if you don't have it then you should take some time off this site.

Is it time for the panic button? This team got dismantled by the 76ers. Right where they left off from last year's ECSF against Milwaukee.

Yes it's time to hit the panic button. Trade everyone and start rebuilding who's the top College prospect this year?

Yep, fire Brad, get rid of Danny, and trade everyone. This is the BOSTON CELTICS [dang it], we're supposed to beat everyone by 20!

Looks like the 2020 Memphis pick will be critical for the future of the Celtics.

But it will be concerning if the Celts lose again, at home, to a Raptor team without Kawhi.

I thought both the Sixers and the Celtics played poorly.   That being said, I think we can play much better but I think the Sixers will have perimeter woes the whole season.   Good to see Gordon back and Tatum do well even though I think he can shoot better.  Kanter did better on D, than I expected.  It was way more enjoyable to watch than last year.  Brown stunk up the floor and needs to be more disciplined and was trying too hard after that big contract.  Kemba was disappointing but it was one game.   I hope he plays more like he did against us in the past, as he was a Celtic Killer.  Edwards definitely had the jitters as his first game.

I think he Sixers should be the ones panicking.    They are this supposedly dominant team and they could barely beat the Celtics on what was an off night for the Celtics and Simmons over performed.  Is it just me or is Embiid a big wimp who acts like he killed when ever he is hurt?  Epitome of a fake tough guy.

It would also be better for Brown to come off the bench.
There's just not enough shots if he's with Kemba, Hayward, and Tatum.
Jaylen and Carsen would give the Celts bench a lot of firepower.

I'd love to see Tatum come off the bench. The C's could finally play with some teamwork in their starting five.

G - Kemba
G - Smart
F - Hayward
F - Jaylen
C - Kanter

Hayward and Kemba lead the show. Jaylen slots in comfortably as the third scorer. Tatum gets to come in off the bench, be selfish and jack up shots right and left.

Where Horford would have made the difference tonight was defending Simmons. That is why he generally struggled against us.

Not tonight.

Hope we can find someone. Hayward, Tatum and Theis couldn’t.

I like Semi matched up on Simmons. Maybe next time.

Yeah, we have guys that can defend Simmons (Jaylen, Tatum).

Problem is defending Horford (6-9 250lbs), Tobias Harris (6-8 240lbs) and Josh Richardson (6-6 200lbs) at the same time. Philly are huge. They create massive matchup problems for teams across the league who are all looking to play smaller quicker lineups.

Kemba has gotta be hidden on Josh Richardson. Only guy Kemba can remotely cover.

Then Boston is trying to play it's 3 SFs against Philly's 3 PFs.

For me, Jaylen has to stay in the starting lineup. He is too valuable on defense and on offense with his ability to score effectively with less touches than Hayward, Kemba or Tatum require to be effective.

For me, it is down to Hayward or Tatum to come off the bench. Not Jaylen. If such a decision is to be made further down the line.

But Jaylen is Stevens' whipping boy so it'll probably be him to suffer again. Like normal.

IF they had hit just 80% of their FT and hit just 2 more 3pters the game is a toss up.  Otherwise this philly team is always going to be a tough play this year due to their height.  Twin centers and a 6-10 point guard is just going to be tough for this team.  They played together, and hard, just missed a few too many open shots.

Simmons' finishing in the paint is something special. He can use either hand so well. He can elevate and twist in so many directions and then finish right or left equally well. Ambidextrous.

It may screw up his jump-shot. Not knowing which hand to shoot with but it is bloody brilliant for him when it comes to finishing inside. So difficult for opposing players to take his strong hand away from him and force a weaker shot. And then the size at 6-10 with the athleticism when he goes up. Wow. So difficult to stop once he gets within 8 feet of the rim.
