Does Kyrie get a video tribute at TD Garden?

I expect not.  He’ll get treatment on par with Trump at the World Series.  Setting aside whether that fan reaction was/would be appropriate in either instance, if you’re honestly trying to pay respect to a guy, why put him in that situation?

When he’s in his farewell tour season, hopefully time will have healed wounds and an extended tribute can happen then.

Guy played 136 games for Boston. Absolutely no need for a tribute, none.

Extended tribute for what? Costing us a lottery pick while giving us a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.house of a season when he was healthy enough to play the entirety of it? I hope we boo him till his farewell tour season and just clap politely when it's his final game in Boston (although I suspect he wouldn't dress up for the game).

Hearing Kyrie is already causing concern for Brooklyn. Welp, he is their problem now!

Hearing Kyrie is already causing concern for Brooklyn. Welp, he is their problem now!

From Jackie Mac's article on ESPN:

Quote
THE NETS WERE delighted when their new power trio organized summer workouts for the team at a Los Angeles middle school in July and August. The aim was to develop chemistry and learn each other's tendencies on the court. It was going swimmingly until Brooklyn dispatched its performance team to Santa Monica for an annual two-day minicamp with the players, which involved, among other things, gathering biometric data through wearables. Irving, who has spent the past nine years working with his own performance specialist, Robin Pound, balked.

When the Nets gently urged him to participate, he didn't mince words: "I'm not doing it." It created an awkward moment, team sources say, for incumbent players who had benefited from the performance staff and ingrained that input into their routine.

...

Yet Irving's infamous mood swings, confirmed by his ex-teammates, which followed him from Cleveland to Boston to Brooklyn, are the unspoken concern that makes Nets officials queasy. When Irving lapses into these funks, he often shuts down, unwilling to communicate with the coaching staff, front office and, sometimes, even his teammates. Nets team sources say one such episode occurred during Brooklyn's trip to China, leaving everyone scratching their heads as to what precipitated it. There's hope that Durant will be able to coax his friend into a better frame of mind. But when presented with that scenario, KD says he will be hands off.

"I look at Kyrie as somebody who is an artist," Durant says. "You have to leave him alone. You know what he'll bring to the table every night because he cares so much about the game.

...

Marks says he will continue the dialogue with Irving, who has already shown up for table time and the weight-training sessions, as the season progresses. "I want him to know we're coming from a good place," Marks says. "If players get the feeling that we're using them or have an ulterior motive, it's going to fail. ... We're taking the stance of 'How can we help you?'"

There has already been leeway to allow Irving to march to his own drum. The Nets are willing to look past moments like the photo shoot at the Pearl TV Tower in China, when Irving refused to remove his hat and instructed them to photoshop it out. They will focus more on the bigger issue of sharing the ball and maintaining good team chemistry.

Wow gathering biometric data? The Nets are really advanced when it comes to their player training programs.

I used to be on the Irving apologist wagon, but after he quit on the team in the playoffs in addition to betraying the Celtics in the end (breaking that TD Garden speech promise, etc) he is dead to me now lol.

Why does it seem however that Kyrie is analyzed under a microscope more so than any other NBA player (sans maybe Durant and Lebron)?

Just trying to be fair. Sure, the guy sounds moody but on the other hand wouldn't anyone here also be moody if you had reporters stick tape recorders and microphones in your face after every game and Jackie MacMullen writing daily articles about your moods?

I'm confused as to how a basically Boston beat reporter has any real idea of how the Nets are run.  And I get that she talked with people and has quotes, but I don't think she really has any idea what the Nets are like on a day to day basis.

And the Nets have all basically come out and said the article was nonsense.  That Irving isn't a problem at all, everyone likes him, there are no issues, etc.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Wow, you mean a team is denying there being problems on the team? Shocking.

With all due respect if Jackie Mac told me mole people ran the NBA as a front for the Kardashians I would believe it. She is one of the most well respected and connected members of the NBA writing community.

Sure, but this wasn't a Nets beat reporter that is well connected with the team writing the article.  That was the main point I was making.  How does Jackie have any real idea what is going on in Brooklyn?  She isn't there everyday.  She doesn't cover them.  Etc.

It came off like a hit piece from a disgruntled former lover.

Again, its Jackie Mac. She doesn't have some agenda man, she knows because she's very well connected. Its like asking how WOJ knows who every team is gonna draft/sign every year. He isnt a beat writer! How does he know? Its their job to know. Do you think she's making this up? I mean it pretty much tracks with everything everybody else has said about Kyrie at every stop he's been at. This behavior isnt a secret.

Honestly fan rxn aside what exactly would the tribute be too? He was here two seasons, the first the C's went to the ECF without him and the second they got waxed in the second round. I mean I get players have done less and gotten a tribute video but I kind of feel like stuff like that should be for guys who made one or more long playoff runs. Like AL should get one.

TP...right on point.

But I do want to say it isn't without question that Jackie could be attempting to drive a lot of clicks ESPN's way with her stories on Kyrie due to her Boston connections and the deep seeded anger that a huge group of Boston fans have towards Kyrie. We have seen it on this very site. Kyrie hate hits hard with Boston fans and brings heavy traffic.

Ya thats a fair point. But again these stories about Kyrie are part of a long standing pattern. There were stories about his attitude in Cleveland, there were stories while he was here. We saw his behavior first hand. So I'd be very surprised if the same stuff wasn't happening in BRK.
