With the 7(9) pick in the historical draft the Spurs select one of the most tenacious defenders of all time.

A man who managed to gobble rebounds like few others could, and whose defense was second to none.

Arguably the greatest defender to ever man the PF spot (absolutely top 3) and one of the hardest workers the league has ever seen. His defense is likened to Denis Rodman, before there was the worm. He routinely defended the opposing teams best forward and made life for them a nightmare.

His offense was better than Rodmans and could go for 20 on any given night. He had the ability to get hot from deep, but most of his offense cam from an uncanny ability to read the play and make sneaky cuts to the rim.

with the 7(9) pick the spurs select their starting PF: the big D

Since Bobby Jones was taken, and I have no prepared post for the guy, I'll just go simple.

For pick 7.8, the Detroit Pistons selects tough nosed, hard as nails, super competitor, Alonzo Mourning.

I might actually start him over Dikembe.
There is the guy I was talking about.
Yeah, I think he was probably a better overall player than Wallace, but as I explained, for a bench role I wanted the best defender (Ben), the best rebounder (Ben), and a guy that could legitimately play at PF (Ben).  So it was an easy call for me to select Ben over Zo.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield

If you can get a proper 3 and D G who can cover PGs instead of Mitch and AI, you have a shot at getting my first place vote.

Most likely 2013, it's his most efficient year and the one year he shot over 40% from 3. Also MVP/Finals MVP

I think Lebron at the point is a terrible idea.  Running the offense through him, great idea, having him actually be a full time PG, I just don't see working.  I don't think he can defend any PG in this game (at least consistently) and I don't think his ball handling is good enough against PG's guarding him (again consistently).  I get why in theory you might think that will work, but I think it will be a disaster, especially in this with the greatest PG's of all time on the other teams.  I'm also not sure about Iverson and Barry being the primary bench players.  They both were very ball dominant and had a ton of teammate related issues (Pippen also didn't get along well with teammates, and Lebron is a unique personality).  There is a lot of pressure on Robinson to keep that team together.

Ben is a much better fit for your team and Yoki already had that defensive specialist big man, so Mourning is a much better fit for him as a two way player in his starting unit. Mourning's 99 and 00 seasons were spectacular given the physicality of the time. Probably the games best defender those two years and maybe the 2nd best player in the league those years. Tough to find that in the 7th round.

2013 LeBron was at his athletic peak and could guard pretty much anyone. Plus he's proven you can run an offense through him, and Pippen can (as he also has in the past) handle some ball handling and playmaking duties. Pippen also managed to get along with MJ enough to win 6 titles, so I have no doubt he can handle Lebron. These guys don't have to like each other to win, and most of these guys have won titles. Plus Iverson can flat out score, so I love him as a 6th man with Barry getting much more open shots in the modern 3 point era.

Plus, as far as matchups are concerned, no point guard is guarding LeBron effectively.

Still think you need a guard who can pester the waterbug guards in this game and space the floor for Bron's kickouts as your SG. The playmaking is alright with Bron and Pippen.
