So back in the 2nd round, I picked Dirk Nowitzki.

Before I picked Dirk, I flirted with the idea of playing David Robinson at PF next to Wilt at C. If I knew then how many teams went big in this league, I would've done it. But alas, I choose not to.

I moved on to thinking about 3 PFs and 1 SF. The 3 PFs were Dirk, Karl Malone and Barkley. The SF was Bernard King.

Bernard King had a short peak but what a peak it was. He was absolutely phenomenal for NYK. Unstoppable highly efficient prolific scoring. Not quite among the best seasons ever but I have it in that second tier. I had him as a late 2nd to 3rd round talent.

Incredible value to get King at this stage of the draft.

I can't believe I didn't pick King at some later stage. He was on my shortlist every pick but I wasn't sure after taking Dirk. I really wanted Paul Pierce. He was my ideal choice at SF. More perimeter orientated. Alongside two combo guards in the backcourt. That didn't happen either. Then I went with Grant Hill as starting SF because I felt I needed more defense & rebounding in my lineup. Then Gervin vs King. King vs Sampson vs Alonzo Mourning. Always in the conversation. Never the pick. Stupid me.

PS - I went with Dirk over Malone and Barkley because I thought teams would go 4 out 1 in. Wrong again!

For pick 8.5, the Detroit Pistons are adding some scoring punch, and I have some ideas, but I can't pass on the value.

And man, are we getting a prolific one. A man who can score from anywhere, with anything.

4x All Star
4x All NBA Team
'84-'85 Scoring Champion

Bow down to Bernard King

Wow.  Nice one.

With the 6th pick in the 8th round of the Celticsstrong Hist. Draft 2019 The MIA Heat select the uber-talented offensive PF Chris Webber

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOh0wnQ1VZU

Needed a Big that can take someone off the dribble from the perimeter, stretch the floor a bit, is a GIFTED passer and can attack the rim.

Planning on perhaps starting him and letting Big Nate spell Shaq at C and let Nate get minutes at PF as well.

I definitely was thinking about King.  Great pick.

Webber is one of those guys that I struggle with.  Great talent, perhaps the first true great stretch 4, but just something about him that I don't like.  Not sure what it is.  Maybe it is he went to Michigan and I'm an Ohio guy.  I just don't know.  Still in round 8 the value is there for him.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Finally get to see Webber & Shaq together.

One of the more fascinating NBA history "what ifs".

Is that Chris Webber, I can't tell.

Cripes GF, I have asked before for you to put names on these selections.

EDIT: I guess so from other posts.

Webber fits that offensive stretch PF need for my roster. I think he would play well with Shaq in stretches.

With pick 8.7 the Portland Trailblazers select Dennis Johnson.

We like the versatility as the first guard off the bench.  Can play with both Clyde and Magic.  Superb defender and we believe in the modern era would have been a good 3 point shooter.

One of the more fascinating NBA history "what ifs".

In this scenario, Webber will be on the OTHER side of that 2001-2002 SAC/LA debacle.

Interested to know which title winning DJ you pick, Seattle or Boston.
