C: David Robinson
PF: Bob McAdoo
SF: Scottie Pippen, Rick Barry
SG: Mitch Richmond, Allen Iverson
PG: Lebron James
Would love to hear some feedback on this team so far
I am not a McAdoo fan. He had his best years as an undersized center and was not able to replicate those performances when he played at PF.
I would have been tempted to play LeBron at PF and Pippen at PG with Pippen initiating the offense but LeBron taking over from there.
I liked the idea of taking another SF and I like Barry individually but I am not sure he was the right man for the team collectively. I love his talent. He was closest thing to Larry Bird the league has seen. But he was a difficult teammate in his earlier years and even in his later team orientated years he had difficulties with his PGs because he wanted the ball all the time and to be one that made the key passes. So I have trouble imaging him getting along with LeBron given how LeBron plays.
I love LeBron and David Robinson. Fantastic combination.
Not sure about Pippen. Great player. Not sure he is as good as robin to LeBron's batman as he was with MJ. Different style of play (MJ and LeBron) and I think different style of robin might have worked better. With LeBron, always, I think of shooters and off ball players rather than a do-it-all playmaking SF.
Not to say Pip and Bron couldn't work but that is part of the reason why I would be tempted to move LeBron to PF and play Pip at PG. Get more shooting on the floor. More space for a dribble drive based offense. No PG. Let Pip be the main PG to get him involved early. Play up tempo. Run as much as possible. Try to run teams off the court.
I like Mitch Richmond. Good player. Plays both ends. He could work well with LeBron especially in a more up tempo offense.
Not sure about Iverson. Another guy who over-dribbles. Tough fit with LeBron there while keeping all these other stars happy / involved in the offense. Iverson is so much fun though.

I think Robinson and LeBron do enough heavy lifting (and to a lesser degree Pippen) to make this team competitive but I am not sure the fit is right with the rest of the pieces to put this team in contention with teams like Philly or Chicago.
