C: Patrick Ewing
F: Karl Malone
F: Larry Bird

Man, that is a monster frontcourt.

I love that Ewing can concentrate on defending, rebounding and finishing plays rather than having to be the #1 option on those Knicks teams. Ewing looked so good on that Dream Team and in All-Star games when he was able to do just that.

Karl Malone and Larry Bird. The greatest passing non-PG ever alongside one of the top passing PFs. Fantastic base for ball movement within the halfcourt. All three frontcourt guys can shoot with range and battle in the paint. The scoring versatility at play here is excellent.

And then Tiny at PG to provide something different. A dribble drive option. Someone who can break down a defense off the dribble in the halfcourt and help create easy transition opportunities with his speed and ball-handling. Terrific offensive balance.

Yeah, I think Philly might be my favorite team.

10th pick - golden state - Giannis
Another pick I believe to be early...extremely early.
I had him rated higher than McGrady, Paul, and Wade.  He just won the MVP and finished 2nd in DPOY in a season he averaged 28/12.5/6 and was an active steal generator and shot blocker.  He also poses incredible match-up difficulties given his length, ball handling ability, etc.  Plus, his team had the best record in basketball and made the conference finals.  Sure his career doesn't measure up to the greats of the past, but with 1 season, I'd easily put his 1 season on par with just about anyone left.

The hilarious thing here is you rate Wade too early...knock his efficiency at scoring but yet you ignore Giannis' lack of shooting.

Didn't talk about Giannis shooting at all.  But seems strange you would be doing that with Wade, who you know was also a terrible shooter.

Wade's best statistical season was 2008-2009 when he averaged 30/5/7.5 with 2.2 steals and 1.3 blocks.  His TS% was 57.4.  He finished 3rd in MVP voting (his highest finish) and was 2nd Team All Defense (along with 1st Team All NBA).  His WS/48 were .232.  The Heat lost in the 1st round of the playoffs.  Now maybe you prefer one of Wade's winning seasons, of course then Wade was the 2nd best player and had 2nd best player stats, so I'm not sure those would be the correct seasons to use especially given he was only a top defender in the seasons when he wasn't playing with Shaq or Lebron.

Giannis, as I said, was the MVP, finished 2nd in DPOY, was on both 1st Teams, and for the record had a TS% of 64.4% and his WS/48 were .292 (which is the 16th best single season in NBA history - only 8 people ahead of him on that list).  He also won 2 playoff series and wasn't a 1st round loser.

I absolutely would have Giannis ranked more highly than Wade where I only needed 1 season.  Wade, thus far, has had a better career, but Giannis is just getting going and already has the best season among the pairing.

Also, for the record, I wouldn't have selected either for my team unless the value was too much to pass up (like 5th round or later), as I think both of them are difficult to fit into this type of setting.  They are too hard to fit in.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

First of all, its certainly up for debate who was the best player on the Miami 06 team.  A lot of people would say Wade was.

Secondly, I don't think it's a bad thing to pick a player's season when he was a second fiddle.  In this kind of game, it might actually be advantageous to do so where that's the role that just about every player drafted in 3rd round and beyond will be on their team.

Guess it was ambitious for me to think he'll last until the 4th round.

Terrific player to have.

I was starting to think he might drop to me next round.

Bout time someone took him.

Top 12 player all time, IMO.

About freaking time. He should have been top 20. I have him 14th. Maybe best value in this draft so far.

I like Anthony Davis but I thought he needed to be a PF in this CB Historical League.

He is going to get killed at center.
