My clear top 11 guys all off the board where I then had a dropoff to #12 and had no idea who'd get taken.  So aside from Kawhi slipping in there, not many surprises to me in round 1 today.
I had 10 of the 12 going in first round. Kawhi (mid to late second) and Kobe (early second). I am surprised about the two who I thought would be firsts but were not. I am looking forward to seeing where they go tomorrow.

I was back and forth for a little while on Kobe and Duncan.

I was thinking hard about twin towers.

But then I looked past my hatred of the Lakers and looked at the numbers, firmly put Kobe in the top 10 alltime (playing in this era)

Wow I didn't even think about Duncan + Hakeem.  Man that would have been awesome.  I think you did well with Kobe too.  But that pairing would have been more fun for me.

The threat of the twin towers alignment made me nervous about putting a combo forward at PF.

Like I say, I thought Duncan, but there are 3 others I have my eye on that should come up in round 4 that would potentially let me move Hakeem to the PF spot. lol

I mentioned earlier I thought some players wouldn't be quite as valuable in today's league as they were in their eras ... but some I believe will be more valuable in today's league.

Of the players picked today, I think Larry Bird is the one that stands out the most in that regard. With the greater onus on the 3 point shot and Larry's superb perimeter shooting, I believe Bird would be one of the most prolific and a highly accurate three point shooter by today's standards.

Which would (1) that that would raise his overall scoring efficiency up (which was already extraordinary) to even greater heights, and, (2) that extra gravity effect from his 3 ball which would create even more spacing for his teammates to attack making Bird even more effective at improving (or getting the best out of) the players around him.

I will mentioned a few others that I think will get big boosts from playing in today's rule system.

He also has the ability to be dominant as a 3 or a 4, which is quite valuable in the modern game.

I think Larry has a strong case as the best offensive player in this Historical League.

Prolific and highly efficient individual scoring. Can score inside, midrange and outside.

Exceptionally talented playmaker and passer.

Excellent off ball player in terms of movement to get open but also as a threat that opposing teams always have to track because of his shooting prowess.

The overall value of those three areas is immense.

One thing I'm REALLY happy about is being in the West while Wilt and Shaq are both in the East.  I was really concerned about the kind of players I'd have to draft in order to defend them that could fit in with Jordan and my team.

Hakeem is still to be reckoned with in the West, but I can draft a more agile and skilled type of player/defender that simply couldn't work against Shaq or Wilt.

Yeah I was wondering about putting Dream at PF too when I was thinking of taking him with the 5th pick.

I leaned towards keeping him at center but man you could pair Hakeem with so many different types of PFs and Cs. He is just so versatile. What a player.

Draftboard, Rosters, Trades and Announcements are all updated in the OP. Just double check to make sure I have all your particular stuff correct, including future picks.

He was my hope all along once I got locked into the 9th pick. I have about 2 or 3 different ways my team could all play out when its all said and done.
