Unfortunately, Yabu wasn’t able to contribute meaningful minutes. Maybe Danny tried to make some trades this offseason, where Yabu’s salary would have been needed, but nothing ever materialized.

You can count me as someone that would rather see that spot go to Tacko Fall. I was shocked by how fluid the guy moves, especially when I first saw him in College. His potential defensive upside is tremendous.

Well, 23 years old and cannot dominate summer league. Definitely did not pan out for us. How do you show up for last chance at making team out of shape? China is but a step away for him.

Tacko will be signed is my guess. We will soon see.

Gotta be one of the worst mid-1st round picks I can remember.  He never came close to looking like an NBA player.

James Young says hi

Hopefully Langford doesnt

The pick that was used to draft Yabusele served the Celtics well, even if the player did not.

It was a pick received from Dallas in 2014 in the Rondo deal that also brought Crowder to the Celtics. Yabusele then was drafted in 2016 and stashed overseas in order to maintain cap space for Horford/Durant, which ultimately ended up being Horford/Hayward. Then Yabusele was over-paid in order to have salary for a potential trade, for Anthony Davis maybe.

It would have been great if he developed into an NBA player somewhere along the way. At this point his roster spot became more valuable than his trade worth.

Good post.  The context is important.

Not surprised by this move.  If ownership was ok with eating his salary then he had to go.  Are the C's far enough under the tax line that they would not have to stretch him?

I don't think the roster spot is for Livingston but I'm sure it's to keep options open.  Below is the best of the rest.  There are a few names that can help or maybe the team really does like Tacko and want to sign him or sign Waters and convert Tacko to a 2 way contract.  Lost of options with a roster spot.

Yabu and Sully would make some hell of a beefy backcourt! Two fully stuffed Moo Shu porks for sure!

I hope Yabusele signs overseas to a team that has real minutes for him. He's played very little competitive basketball for the past 2 years. He'll get paid over there too.

Sucks that he got dumped while the summer league team is in Vegas. He's got a lot of logistical stuff to work out now.

Well he may get a 2nd chance like Sully did before saying bye to the nba

There is a possibility that it was just a poor fit vs Grant Williams (looking like a very good fit)

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
The timing is interesting to me. Why waive him now if they don't have someone to replace him in mind. If they just wanted to spot it would have made more sense to wait until the end of the offseason to deal him in case they needed his salary in a trade.

I expect a signing or a trade to replace his roster spot to come soon.

In retrospect they should not have picked up his option last year. Had they not picked up his option they would have $3.5 more MM to spend on the free agent market.

Tacko on the roster would be good, but I would rather see him replace Strus as the 2nd 2 way and sign/trade for an immediate rotation guy.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19
