I struggle to understand why Kemba Walker, he’s a similar player to Kyrie, but older, worse, and not finals proven. How does he fit with Hayward, and the Js, wouldn’t he take away their shots too. Is Angie trying to make up losing out on AD and AL, Kyrie?

I can see some negatives, but ultimately, you have a chance to add a perennial all star who just made all nba, you have to look for reasons not to sign him, not reasons to sign him.

I don't think anyone is pressuring him.    I think he sees that he has an opportunity to pivot & has the cap space to do it so he's going to make a run at it.

Also, is there much to be enamored with come summer 2020?

pressured by who? Kemba is only two years older than irving and has way less injury concerns right now. He also may just be a lot better fit personality wise.

I don't think the Walker possibility is anything new to Ainge. I assume they've had him on their list of good matches since last year.

They did draft two point guards and Langford played a lot of point for Indiana. Makes you wonder.

I also was wondering about "zero front court"?

Hopefully this will be resolved with some well matched bigs to enhance our plethora of smalls.

Walker is a really good player and has been for some time. I also think he'll be popular with team and fans.

Danny hasn’t responded to pressure since he traded a first for Antoine Walker.  Since then, he builds the team as he sees fit.

Chris Grenham: Woj on @SportsCenter says the Celtics are “more than a strong front-runner” for Kemba. Added that Boston “could have a commitment as soon as Sunday night.”

Pressure? Danny Ainge?

Nope.

Any man that's going to tackle a player twice his size don't know what pressure is....Man versus Nature....

Kemba Walker - already a capable player - will be a GREAT replacement for Kyrie if he chooses to leave.

I'll miss Kyrie but Kemba is a quality replacement whose game will flourish in Boston with the weapons he'll have around him.

It's almost as if we are just waiting for formalities here.. I really did not watch a lot of Charlotte games but all I know is the man just torches us whenever we play Charlotte.
I'm OK with Kemba.. At least he isn't as bad as Westbrook. Kyrie is better but not by much IMO.

I think there is team and coach pressure to make good moves. Guys want to compete and they are his guys so he has to try and make the team better.

Also there may be an issue of a cap pressure situation. As Brown is coming up soon then Tatum. You will need to use cap space that will then no longer allow the team to sign a max free agent in the near future. Yet if you get max guy now you can maybe trade that max guy or Hayward with a pick or two for a better max guy.

I see fans and media as no pressure.

I've always been under the impression that Danny has been a big Kemba fan for some time.

It is a dumb move. They will be worse defensively and get beat on the boards nightly. Using the exception on a mediocre center won’t make up for the loss of AH.

Just because you have a max slot doesn’t mean you should use it on an undersized guard.

The team won’t be built in a day.

when i heard Kemba was FA and Kyries thumbing his nose games at Boston in the playoffs .   I figured it would be more than DA could stand not going after him.

I was 95 sure DA was chomping at the bit for Kyrie when it came out he wanted out if Cleveland .

The dream of Kyrie fizzled out ....IT was damaged .....here is third chance for nice point guard for Celtics .

All for Kemba ....on board .....im always thrashing around at night wonder why Danny ignores the center ....who is the person i would build around ....not a guard .....i 'm still let down over Davis ..big time

You could overpay a above average big and still struggle on offense as well. I've always been under the thought that you only pay big money to the guys that can win you games when it matters most. Kemba is one of those guys, bigs like Vucevic are not. The C's have two glaring holes and unless you are ok with taking a huge step backwards there is no downside to this move. It's a pivot for a guy that will be a huge fan favorite.
