Anyone thinking Williams is ready has been drinking the green stuff.Williams does not seem durable with his shot blocking theatrics.I hope after he blocks enough players, he will moderate his aggressiveness and play more in control.Coming down on a players foot is inevitable for out of control high flyers.
Danny would never sign a max without having a more than competent center.
And to sell Gordon cheap after all the effort of last year.

You should rename this "The Official Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. are we going to do at Center" Thread.  I came looking for an answer to that question.  Is Robert Williams ready for primetime?  Are we going to bring back Theis?  Roll with Yabu at smallball 5 ;) ? Who else is out that that we can sign for 3yrs/$15.3m with our MLE?

if only there was still time before the season to acquire someone who might help the team up front. but too late for danny to do anything to help the team there. sigh.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Capela seems like an obvious bargain to me. Kemba Walker is a great player, but unless Ainge has something very impressive up his sleeve like a trade for Myles Turner, I don't see how you can not grab Capela when he can be had so cheaply. He obviously lacks Horford's spacing and passing, but he's fast, athletic, really productive and just turned 25.

It's going to be a lot easier to find a point guard than it is to find a quality big.

You don't think Ainge sees the hole?

He purposely did not draft a big. My guess is he has an idea of what he is going to do. Kemba is not going to be the only guy.

I think Ainge always values talent above need and position, and he and Brad don't value bigs much at all.

IMO, if he signs Kemba, he's going to get a middle of the pack big and roll with him. There probably won't be a deal that is going to make any sense with Brown/Hayward/Smart going out in trade. We're probably going to sign the Frenchman that was discussed the other day, maybe keep Theis (or not), and add someone like Kanter. Think about it. He had a bushel of picks the other night, and didn't draft anyone taller than 6'7. RW is the only player he's drafted in the 1st round taller than 6'8 (other than Zizic) in several years. The Celtics just don't value Centers, I would assume excepting a superstar like AD.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a play for Kanter for the MLE.

What do you think they will need to give up to get Capela? Just to make salaries work would likely require Smart, I suppose they might be able to cobble something else together, but I don't know what that is.

Is this the 4th or 5th celtics need a center thread? It can't keep up with the trade Hayward threads but that's a lot!

I think Celts will use Smart or Brown and a 1st rounder to get a starting Center.

Ainge definitely sees the hole. Even by our modest big standards the last few years with the greg monroes of the world we have not ever been this thin.
