The difference is Giannis was just 18 when he was in the Euro league.

Poirier will be 26 years old once the 2019-20 NBA season starts.

YEAH, a lot of people paid to know these things said the same thing about Giannis when he was drafted.  He couldnt dominate in the NBA like he did in his european lower level league.

Even Ainge passed on Giannis in the 2013 draft.

But at that time, Giannis was just an athletic skinny kid who couldn't shoot.
Look at Giannis' body right now.

Giannis was not a finished product at that time.

Vincent Poirier on the other hand is already a finished product.
He's going to be 26 years old when the season starts.
The question now is can he be as good in the NBA?

He did not look any skinnier than Garnett at age 18 or Kobe at age 18. The whole NBA crew just missed on that gem. Celtics in particular because Danny scouted him, and then traded up to 'snatch' Olynyk ahead of Giannis.

True.

It's just unfortunate that Olynyk didn't pan out.
He was one of my favorite Celtic players in the Brad Stevens era.

Just watched highlights. I’m glad the guy is a rim runner off the P&R. We could use some inside threats! I hope CBS can adapt to his bigs’ strengths. We have Kanter, Poirier and Timelord who are mainly threats in the paint.

A guy like Kevin Love would be a good fit for the current Celts.

But I don't know if the Celts would want Love's contract.

Love, Kanter, Rob Will, and Poirier would be a solid frontcourt.

KLove is definitely still a good player and even if he’s not a good interior defender, would fit with our team nicely. He’s Horford with worse defense, better rebounding and better O. I don’t know how C’s acquire him though, especially at his salary.

Celts can do a trade for Love in December.

Smart, Brown, and Theis would be the main pieces needed to make the trade work.

Theis cannot he traded until January 15th, FYI.

Love was pretty bad against us in 2018 playoffs. His replacement, Jeff Green, played much better than Love did.

So you’re willing to give up Brown and those other assets for a guy who was benched for Jeff Green.

Makes sense.

Watched the highlight videos on Vin shortly after he signed with the Celtics. Only saw a couple jump shots. Everything else was a dunk after dunk after dunk, etc. Can he shoot at all? If so, what's his range?

Love was pretty bad against the Celts in 2018 because the Celts' game plan exposed Love's weakness.

But right now Love is a good fit because Horford's gone.

If Tatum becomes a 20-point scorer and Hayward returns to All-Star form, Brown would be redundant.

Celts will be better off adding a player like Kevin Love, someone that can fill a need.

I'm really not sold on Tatum playing PF full-time.

Kevin Love has his strengths and weaknesses, just like most players.
But Love is an All-Star who's considered one of the best shooting bigs in the NBA and one of the best rebounding PFs in the league.

According to what I read, his range is very limited.
