If you know this board, if they show any promise in the summer league than Grant Williams will be the next Karl Malone and Romeo the next Dwade.   Happens every year!

Langford to Wade is a good comparison. How much of Wade-light are we getting? 80%, 50%, 20%?  ;D
100% with healthy knees? Or is that greedy?

I am surprised you fail to see this. Williams Is the new Mailman and Langford IS the new Wade.

Smart
New wade
Tatum
New mailman
New Russel

Who beats this team??

The Romeo pick only makes sense if Ainge also drafted Juliet.

Celts have Brown and Hayward, so where will Langford get the minutes from?

And Langford's no PG.

Based on the current roster, we'll see lots of 3 wing lineups, which will leave plenty of minutes for Langford
I'm bitter.

Langford is an Indiana kid.  I am trusting Stevens on this one, who probably knows every basketball mind in Indiana.  And Stevens spoke very highly of him.

I would like to see the Smart/Langford duo off the bench. Good size for guards and both have some playmaking ability. If Langford’s shooting woes were mostly from his injury, he could be a really nice pick.

The quick drop off in talent to a large pool of players and the ability of good organizations able to spot talent.
Romeo fell i believe because of effect of his ligament on his shooting hand. Also had to bother his dribbling.
A hard worker high character 6-6 guard .

Grant Williams sure has a number of fans in scouting community  another tough Smart player to add to to Tatums mold-Harvard tried to recruit him.Edwards

Carson Edwards looks like handful with NBA spacing. He could be a steal as a sparkplug -Boston Garden will love him
Another hard as nails" little guy" looks like his defense will be an upgrade over Isaiah's.
Got 6-5/6-6 wingspan his core strength looks made to fight over the top of screens and be a pest.

Langford has been considered to NOT be a hard worker.

Everywhere that i have read says he is a hard worker and that includes three articles right before i posted this response.

He takes alot of plays off, especially on defense.

I hope smart smartens him up in that regards.

But I am far from sold.

Especially when we could have hadba starting center over a backup shooting guard

I just googled “Romeo Langford work ethic” and every link mentions a strong work ethic not a weak work ethic. So, where are you getting your information?

Hard workers is a trait that Danny Ainge has put a lot of stock in for his draft picks, would be surprised if he went against that grain for this pick.

3 wing lineups?

Tatum + Brown + Hayward = 3 wings

Unless Tatum becomes the starting PF next season.

By watching play defemse like harden. And watching him consistantly take plays off.

You’re confusing work ethic with focus. He’s a young player so mental
lapses during a game is commonplace.

It was but DA blew it.
According to some the draft is all luck. So you can’t blame Ainge for missed picks.

until they have a bad game. then CS will descend upon them cursing them, berating CBS, and calling for ainge's head.

its CS, its what we do.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

It's not all luck, but there certainly are a lot of variables that a team cannot control. I suspect most people that dislike Danny's selections are heavily influenced by online draft rankings and media analysis. The fact is that teams have their own player rankings which in many ways bear no resemblance to the media rankings. I don't pay much attention to college basketball, so I don't have any sense of how good these players are, but the fact that Danny ranked the players differently than the internet does not bother me at all.

don't lean either way about Grant Williams or the second rounders and have zero expectations for them, but langford is a swing for the fences type pick at #14

dunno why a lot of reactions to that pick are negative... if he busts, not a big deal... he was extremely hyped coming  out of HS, we'll see if an injury really did affect his percentages... and I read that apparently he didn't work out for any teams because of thumb surgery (??)??

after years of criticism for taking those with safe mediocre ceiling projections instead of high risk high reward, why not Romeo  :P

and also he's finally away from Indiana without the crazy expectations, think his family members are Louisville fans as well

I don't get this thinking... Nba rosters have 17 spots. You will have redundancies. He will come off the bench
