The quick drop off in talent to a large pool of players and the ability of good organizations able to spot talent.
Romeo fell i believe because of effect of his ligament on his shooting hand. Also had to bother his dribbling.
A hard worker high character 6-6 guard .

Grant Williams sure has a number of fans in scouting community  another tough Smart player to add to to Browns mold-Harvard tried to recruit him.

Carson Edwards looks like handful with NBA spacing. He could be a steal as a sparkplug -Boston Garden will love him
Another hard as nails" little guy" looks like his defense will be an upgrade over Isaiah's.
Got 6-5/6-6 wingspan his core strength looks made to fight over the top of screens and be a pest.

Langford has been considered to NOT be a hard worker.

I thought Ainge picked the best players available at 22 and 33. The only head scratcher is Langford. I had him in the 15-17 range, so he wasn't that much of a reach. But that off ball effort is a worry. Hopefully we don't regret passing on Clarke, NAW and Doumbouya.

In general I didn't see a lot of difference in the players ranked about 10-35. they looked like either safe role player picks or interesting gamble projects.

Williams reminds me of Horford, but 2 inches shorter. Edwards reminds me of Eddie House with a touch of IT. Good safe bench picks. Langford is our gamble. Hopefully Brad can develop him. He'll have to quickly learn to pick up the off ball effort or he'll get cut in a couple years.

I think people around here will love Grant Williams. Or at least most of them will. Considering there were threads proposing we trade Horford for someone like Whiteside maybe not everyone appreciates that kind of play.

I was skeptical about the Langford pick, but that was mainly due to how much I like Doumbouya and NAW. I think taking a high-upside guy is pretty a-ok though.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Everywhere that i have read says he is a hard worker and that includes three articles right before i posted this response.

I am slowly, trying hard, to warm on williams. Almost exclusively because he is a Celtic.

Other than the name on the front of his jersey, for now at least, i could care less. I firmly believe that his ceiling as a player is 10-15 minutes off the bench per game.

Langford I really dislike. Comes off as a complete anti celtic. He coasts, lacks effort, looks out forbhimself ahead of anyone else.

Second round pucks I dont really care about.

Team needed to draft Goga at 14. And I also felt they needed to make a move on Samanic. I believe both will outperform all our rookies and once the season starts we all will complain they were not picked.

I really hope to eat crow on this though

He takes alot of plays off, especially on defense.

I hope smart smartens him up in that regards.

But I am far from sold.

Especially when we could have hadba starting center over a backup shooting guard

The Romeo pick only makes sense if Ainge also drafted Juliet.

Celts have Brown and Hayward, so where will Langford get the minutes from?

And Langford's no PG.

It was until they blew it with the first 2 picks
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Celtics could trade Brown to Indiana for Sabonis or Turner, to solve our dire need for a center and free minutes for Langford. I would oppose it, but from a (short term) roster constructing view it would make sense for both teams.

I totally get for going for a player with high upside at #14, I just don't think Langford was the right guy to pick, in fact he was on the very bottom on my list. I'm worried that he isn't going to make it in the NBA. Really hope I'm wrong.

If you know this board, if they show any promise in the summer league than Grant Williams will be the next Karl Malone and Romeo the next Dwade.   Happens every year!

I'm quickly warming up to Grant Williams.  He is so well-spoken, obviously knowledgeable and eager to improve himself.  He expresses basketball concepts better than many NBA coaches.  Then throw in him being a pretty good shooter and tough too.  He has a PF body and they need help in the frontcourt.

Langford...not sure yet.

Langford to Wade is a good comparison. How much of Wade-light are we getting? 80%, 50%, 20%?  ;D
