Ainge’s cryptic “I know something you don’t know” is that we will get Horford to come back (3 year and an overpay of $80m - $26.66m) to get him to accept less years? Isn’t he projected to get 25m per year?

What if we sign Ricky Rubio to be a pass first PG?

We could be:

Rubio
Brown
Hayward
Tatum
Horford

Bench: Smart, Williams III, Ojeleye, Draft Picks

I'd love that, but I don't think it's happening.

I think you’re kidding yourself if you think 26 mil is an overpay. That’s the disconnect with many fans I think.  The idea that horford was going to opt out just to give back wasn’t really a thing.  At three years, I think it would take 30 mil a year or more to sign him.

Jackie MacMullen already explained this (Ainge’s cryptic “I know something you don’t know”) in an article. Ainge was referring to Colton Iverson coming back as one of their big men next season.

This pretty much tells you he is not returning.

Wyc asked on @NBCSBoston to characterize state of team: “Building or re-tooling, we’re starting with a core of Marcus Smart, Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum. Start with that and add in the rest of the roster, not to slight anybody, and then restricted rights on Terry."

It's possible, but Baynes is gone so they definitely need another legitimate big.  R-Will can't be your 2nd big.

It's not happening.  We're jettisoning guys like Baynes to create cap space.  That makes absolutely no sense if Horford is coming back.

Horford is gone, he's got an offer on the table for more than we'd pay and he's taking it.

The only question is which of the rumored teams ends up convincing him to take their offer.

Why don’t we give him the 2 year super max?
2yr $79M
Works with Hayward’s timeline 🤷🏻‍♂️

he is probably gone, as you mention. i wont get my hopes up. but if anyone were to turn down extra money to get a situation he feels good in, Al is the guy.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Quite frankly, if Ainge strongly feels or flat-out knows that Horford is in fact returning after all, there was virtually no reason to trade Baynes last night for cap space.  Horford could be re-signed via his Bird rights, and doing so would pretty much put us over the cap with or without Baynes.

That Baynes was actually traded closed the book for me with regard to Horford.

At face value, she's simply saying "Wish I could tell you everything I know, but I can't".

Woj speculated about interest from the Pelicans.  Is a S & T to get Holliday here feasible?
