Given that

- we traded Baynes
- Horford is expected to walk

we are only left with one center: Robert Williams. The C's are in desperate need of a starting-caliber center. Who would you want us to go after?

Of those I'd want Adams. We need interior defence and rebounding desperately. In fact, I think those are our two single-most pressing concerns.

Vuce can help a lot with the rebounding, but he's an average defender. Really good scorer and passer however
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Well, if Ainge doesn't pick up any centers his job is on the line.

Unless he really expects Brad Stevens to start a small-forward at Center.

Adams has a huge contract lke 25mil. I am not sure what Vuce is getting or will get.

We're also probably in need of a backup caliber center. We don't know if Robert Williams can play or not.

My preferences -

Plan A: Max Russell and use the rest of the cap space on a type like Ed Davis or Dwayne Dedmon as a backup center, ultimately baptizing Williams by fire. He'll learn, and we'll be better in the long-term for it (as we're not likely to contend next year anyways sans big steps made by Tatum and/or Brown and/or Hayward). Roll into 2019-2020 with a lineup of:

PG: Russell, Edwards
SG: Brown, Smart
SF: Tatum, Langford
PF: Hayward, Williams
C: Timelord, Davis/Dedmon

And then whatever other players we can get on an exception or minimum salary. I really like the look of this roster longer-term, as the pieces seem to fit pretty well together and work towards a specific style.

Plan B: Trade Steven Adams into our cap space and resign Rozier to a modest contract. Roll into 2019-2020 with a lineup of:

PG: Smart, Edwards
SG: Brown, Rozier
SF: Tatum, Langford
PF: Hayward, Williams
C: Adams, Timelord

And then whatever other players we can get on an exception or minimum salary.

Plan C: Sign Vucevic into our cap space and resign Rozier to a modest contract (I'd only get Vuc if I could keep Rozier, too, as I wouldn't want to pay him anymore than that). Roll into 2019-2020 with a lineup of:

PG: Smart, Edwards
SG: Brown, Rozier
SF: Tatum, Langford
PF: Hayward, Williams
C: Vuc, Timelord

And then whatever other players we can get on an exception or minimum salary.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

I'll take a guy who can score, rebound, pass and an average defender over a guy who is bad on offense, average on everything else, but good on defense.

This team needs scoring and rebounds.

I'm confused - why would anybody here take Adams over Capella?

Capella put up superior numbers, is about on par defensively, has pretty much the same limitations as Adams, and his salary is $10m cheaper.  What am I missing?

I suspect he'll command the max

Except he's not average on rebounding at all

That Capela benefited massively from playing alongside Harden, whereas Adams has succeeded in spite of playing alongside Westbrook

Adams would be much cheaper, as it's essentially a salary dump. Hell, we could potentially get a pick out of it.

Reports suggest that Houston is asking for quite a bit for Capella.

Originally I wanted Capela, but seeing that Vuce is in the market, why not go for him. I feel like Vucevic is the second best big man behind Anthony Davis in our list of targets for bigs.

On ESPN, Woj said Cs and Lakers would be interested in Vucevic if he does not really-sign in ORL.

Vucevic seems like a Stevens type of guy. Not a great defender but decent passer and very good offensive player that can stretch the floor. Not sure exactly how much he would cost though.
