My preferences -
Plan A: Max Russell and use the rest of the cap space on a type like Ed Davis or Dwayne Dedmon as a backup center, ultimately baptizing Williams by fire. He'll learn, and we'll be better in the long-term for it (as we're not likely to contend next year anyways sans big steps made by Tatum and/or Brown and/or Hayward). Roll into 2019-2020 with a lineup of:
PG: Russell, Edwards
SG: Brown, Smart
SF: Tatum, Langford
PF: Hayward, Williams
C: Timelord, Davis/Dedmon
And then whatever other players we can get on an exception or minimum salary. I really like the look of this roster longer-term, as the pieces seem to fit pretty well together and work towards a specific style.
Plan B: Trade Steven Adams into our cap space and resign Rozier to a modest contract. Roll into 2019-2020 with a lineup of:
PG: Smart, Edwards
SG: Brown, Rozier
SF: Tatum, Langford
PF: Hayward, Williams
C: Adams, Timelord
And then whatever other players we can get on an exception or minimum salary.
Plan C: Sign Vucevic into our cap space and resign Rozier to a modest contract (I'd only get Vuc if I could keep Rozier, too, as I wouldn't want to pay him anymore than that). Roll into 2019-2020 with a lineup of:
PG: Smart, Edwards
SG: Brown, Rozier
SF: Tatum, Langford
PF: Hayward, Williams
C: Vuc, Timelord
And then whatever other players we can get on an exception or minimum salary.
