I know this is a longshot...

So all of us seem to be almost 100% convinced that Kyrie is bolting for the Nets.  With Davis going to the Lakers and Kyrie supposedly having told the C's that he would only come back if Davis was here it seem extremely unlikely Kyrie resigns with us....BUT

We know Kyrie is a bit of an odd duck.  Maybe his plan was to join Durant with the Nets.  Durant's injury makes him rethink that and just resigns with GS.  What happens if Kyrie decides he wants to be back with the C's?  It almost seems like there is a good riddance attitude in the blog about him, and there have been rumors that the C's coaches and players weren't 100% happy with him either.

If this happens do we run the whole thing back (maybe minus Rozier) and just hope everyone gets along better?  What does DA do to the team if Kyrie tells him he wants to resign with us?

(1) Try to improve team harmony by eliminating competition for shot attempts (and minutes). Dump Marcus Morris and Terry Rozier. Replace with low usage 3&D players.

(2) Try to find a way to get a solid center next to Horford. Dangle that Memphis pick.

Then bring in a PF next to him. Someone who can help out in the paint on defense & on the backboards.

I don't care whether it is a 4 or a 5. Just get the man some help.

... and do not leave this team so reliant on Baynes again next season. Too injury prone. Need a viable alternative. A center with size. Doesn't need to be a starter but needs to be a capable player. This team should not be so dependent on such a limited player.

That 4 or 5 needs to know how to shoot 3s at a high rate because Brad Stevens system  :-\

Add Clint Capela. Add a backup combo guard.

So if Kyrie comes back do we settle back to the original starting lineup from 2017-2018?

Kyrie - Brown - Tatum - Hayward - Horford

Or is Hayward still the 6th man and we need another big with Al?

Kyrie - Brown - Tatum - Capela - Horford
bench:  Hayward-Smart-Morris-tbd combo guard-Williams

Give it up he’s gone it’s why Ainge didn’t pull the trigger on a Davis trade.

It would be great if Robert Williams can become a rotation player this year, even Yabusele lol.  There are guys like Dedmon, and Robin Lopez as free agents.

I take it you’re not a fan of Theis?  There were times when Morris was slumping I was hoping Theis would get some minutes in place of Morris.

If we use the MLE on a big, then I think we almost have to bring Rozier back because we could then only use the minimum to sign a PG.

Well, we all know the likely outcome, but that's not the premise of this thread.

To answer the original question, I would make Kyrie the Captain and get his input on what we can do to make the team better. Him choosing to come back to a situation he is not really welcomed would show he is taking the 1st step to being a good leader - not giving up and following through on his word.

Yeah, I am ready to move on from Theis. I liked him his first year here but less last season. I am fine with him as a 3rd stringer if he wanted to stay in a smaller role.

I think he’s good insurance so I wouldn’t mind him back as a 3rd stringer.

Ideally for me I’d like to sign a vet point guard with the MLE even if we bring Rozier back, someone like Rubio.  If we re-sign Morris with his bird rights we can always try to trade him later for a legit big.  Maybe give Robert Williams every chance to earn a rotation spot early in the season.

Minus Davis not a chance

Pray it’s the Nets and Ainge goes after Russell

Until Kyrie signs somewhere else, I think there's a chance he returns albeit a smaller one now that Davis isn't coming here.

definitely need to firm up the front court with someone more durable than Baynes and get a good backup PG because deep down to my core I firmly believe Rozier has just got to go.
