(1) Try to improve team harmony by eliminating competition for shot attempts (and minutes). Dump Marcus Morris and Terry Rozier. Replace with low usage 3&D players.

(2) Try to find a way to get a solid center next to Horford. Dangle that Memphis pick.
This is what I wanted them to do at trade deadline.

Don't be surprised if he plays "follow the idiot" and goes to the Lakers, as he reportedly wants to play with AD.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/kyrie-irving-free-agency-rumors-lakers-could-be-in-play-for-all-star-guard-who-wants-to-play-with-anthony-davis/

But doesn't want to play with Lebron James. Typical big market stuff.

Too bad Ainge et al got intimidated by that Davis' slimeball agent. Do agents really run the show these days?

Nope, the players do. Players can basically dictate where they want to play today.

1) That CBS article is a bunch of nonsense not based on anything recent (wish we didn't share clickbait like that here, but oh well)
2) Everything I have heard Davis is not going to just waive the 4.7 million trade kicker, so LA won't even have a full max slot. So Kyrie, who wanted to be the lead dog, decides to go somewhere to be 3rd in the pecking order for less than the max? i mean sure he is a strange guy, but that is like Danny Ainge deciding he wants to run a hamster farm.

Shams says Kyrie and "top Celtics officials" will meet soon to discuss future, potentially before Thursday's draft.
I'd be shocked if there was a sudden reversal after all the BKN noise has been a constant.

WHOA HE IS COMING BACK.

Yeah shopping some of the picks we have to get an upgrade somewhere in the roster would be an absolute must.

Front court seems to be the area of need, and given the modern NBA should be doable but I'm not sure where the deal would be.

If he came back, I would be ecstatic but I have been preparing myself zero chance he returns. This board would explode if he came back! I would love to see that happen....but there is zero chance...zero...

does anyone think Brown gets traded if Kyrie comes back?

I don't want that to happen at all, Brown is my fav player on the team with Al.  But it seems like Brown and Kyrie had some issues.  Would it be a surprise if we find out later that Kyrie would resign with us but DA had to get rid of Rozier and Brown?

I mean if Kyrie were to stay you should absolutely consider moving pretty much anyone else if you think it'd be an upgrade for winning now.

But if he comes in and demands you move Brown to get him to stay? That's tough, especially when Brown responded darn well to moving to the bench. Plus you don't make good value deals when under the gun typically.

I wouldn't stress about it, he's leaving.

I really doubt that is the case, especially Brown. I could see Kyrie insisting on getting rid of Terry, though.

I am not stressed AT ALL, I have accepted he is leaving.  I mean, well this whole thread is highly highly unlikely, but Kyrie is and odd ball.  Literally anything he did wouldn't surprise me.

Lakers would surprise the heck out of me.

Returning to play with LBJ for a pay cut (assuming they lack the max space as reported under the current trade construction) would be the one thing I would not see coming.

Where there is smoke, there is fire.  I believe he is leaving and I am ready to move on.  However, if he comes back, I contend that we have to make Tatum the focal point of the offense.  Tatum will have to adjust his game to draw more fouls and to put pressure on the defense.

If Kyrie want to return and a stipulation is that brown goes then as much as I love brown...you trade him.

Team is in dire need of a center that can let horford slide to the pf spot. I am sure that a combination of brown, yabusele a pick or 2 can net that center.

Maybe brown plus can net you one of
Turner
Bamba
Capela
Ayton
Sabonis

Irving
Hayward
Tatum
Horford
Turner/bamba

Hell of a lineup

Would it really though, after Kyrie talking about his phone call with Lebron and him basically apologizing to him?  That made me wonder at the time if he wasn't considering going to the Lakers.  The paycut, yeah, that could be the dealbreaker.

So, one thing that is for sure is that neither Woj or Shams have reported that Kyrie is headed to Brooklyn. The "1 guy said something clickbait media talking heads" are the ones that have been driving this for weeks. If it were a done deal or if there were someone credible stating this, they would have reported on it.

My biggest personal tip off that he isn't coming back is that we didn't trade for AD. All said, if he comes back, I'd welcome him, but I'd be pretty furious that he didn't give Ainge that indication to trade for AD.

Woj has done multiple TV hits where he has stated that Celtics are losing their grip on Kyrie, locked in on BKN, etc.

Also Bulpett and other Celtics beat guys have started to report that they are hearing BKN too. Its not just one clickbait guy anymore.
