I don't think this automatically means he's going to Brooklyn.

One does not fire an agent and signs with another agent that has strong Kevin Durant and Brooklyn Nets ties, especially when you decline your $21.3M option to hit free agency the same day.

100% Brooklyn-bound.

Isn't ROC nation in deep with Brooklyn?

Jay-z is from Brooklyn. That's about it. They're clientele is pretty spread out - Kevin Durant, Rudy Gay, Danny Green, Jeremy Lin, Justise Winslow, Caris Lavert.

Looks like KD isn't with Roc Nation anymore.

But Durant is no longer part of ROC nation nor does the company have strong ties to Brooklyn aside from the fact that it was founded by Jay-Z.

I don't think this automatically means he's going to Brooklyn.

What would it mean to you

It could mean a lot of things.  Among them, perhaps Kyrie is unhappy about his former agent pushing him in a certain direction.  Maybe he's unhappy with the current media narrative.  Maybe his new agency gave him a better rate, or came up with a marketing plan that Kyrie finds more appealing.

It obviously could mean that Kyrie is trying to align more with Brooklyn, but that's not the only thing it could mean.

I can see the Knicks and the Mecca of basketball

The best basketball in NYC is not played in Madison Square Garden but has always been in Rucker Park.

NYC with its two championships is the most over hyped basketball town in the world.

Weird timing, but can’t imagine he’s happy with how this season has gone for his image.

I’ve pretty much accepted that he’s gone, and that’s alright. I think trading for AD now would be too risky.

We can soon wash our hands of this Kyrie thing and get back to the business of being perpetually mediocre.  At this point, I just hope Danny Ainge comes out of this healthy.

Isn't ROC nation in deep with Brooklyn?

Jay-z is from Brooklyn. That's about it. They're clientele is pretty spread out.

jay-z use to be small owner of bkln and had to sell his part b/c of this agency, I think. I could have it wrong, I really dont remember it clear enough. I dont really remember because my only interest in the agency was because James Young signed with them when we drafted him.

But it's a partnership with CAA and they don't have a history of steering clients to specific teams.

Doesn't matter though. People are going to infer what they want into this.

Now that Kyrie is gone is it okay for us to criticize him....
what team did kyrie sign with?

He is not under contract with any team right now. So is it okay to be objective about him now?

Where are you seeing this info at?

Everywhere I look online says he’s still with Roc Nation.

I don’t see Kyrie playing with Russell lol if it’s the Nets he’s bringing someone with him. Broken KD or Butler is my guess.

Cs were mediocre with him....time to get better without that drama princess.

Woj reporting that Roc Nation has close connections with the entertainment industry, which is generally a big draw for star players like this.

That said, Kyrie doing this to to be closer to the entertainment industry probably isn’t good news for him resigning in Boston either, as that likely supports the theory that winning isn’t his first priority in this decision.

Nets CEO Brett Yormark’s twin brother, Michael, is ROC Nation’s President.
