Danny taking zero responsibility, why am I not surprised?
I think that is the right mindset for a GM to have. Ainge should view and review the trade based on the information he had available to him at the time and decide whether the deal is worth doing / risk worth taking.
He felt it was at the time.
And in hindsight, based on the information he had at the time, still feels it was the right choice.
And has a hard time imagining that ever changing in the future -- that based on the information he had at the time, he should not have done that deal.
That is the right way to analyze the deal IMO.
I am happy with Ainge's analysis of the Kyrie deal.
-------------------
It is the process of how Ainge made the decision. That is what he analyzes. In hindsight, he reviews that information that he had at the time of the deal. How he weighed the information and how he came to a decision.
That is right way for a GM to analyze the deal. To review the processes behind the decision.
Not by the end result. Kyrie left, it was all a waste. He is not a fortune teller. He cannot predict the future. He has to analyze his decisions based on the information he had available to him at the time -- understanding, accepting and adjusting for the risk that Kyrie may walk when his contract is up. Did he do that properly? Or not?
Based on his information, did he have a good understanding of the risk Kyrie presented to leave the team when his contract was up? Did he fail to gather the information possible at the time? Or did he have all information? Did he analyze the information properly? Did he adjust his plans according?
-------------------------
When Ainge says he will not regret trading for Kyrie even if he leaves .... he is saying that because he understood the risk at the time of the trade. That this might happen. That he accepted this risk because of Kyrie's talent and because of the opportunities he had to build a top team here with Kyrie as a key piece of it.
That he weighed the risk of Kyrie leaving vs the opportunity of Kyrie staying and decided the risk was worthwhile based on the information he had at the time of the trade.
And that in hindsight, he still agrees with the processes & verdict that led to that decision ... and because of that, still believes it was the right decision based on the information he had at the time.
