No they're an even worse matchup for us than the Bucks. Kawhi/Pascal/Gasol inside is way too much for us to handle. They'd drum us to death with a billion easy 2 pointers and on defense Kyrie would dribble into a wall of defense.

I think Boston needs to build a roster that's designed to stop Toronto rather than Golden State.

Golden State looks very vulnerable these days.

I don't even think Boston would have stopped Philadelphia in a 7-game series either.

Not much of a chance. Siakam, with his length, would've eaten us alive. And I'm sure VanVleet would've torched us too. This is not even considering what Leonard would've done.

lol 4-0 sweep Kyrie ain't a number 1 option there's only 3 of those guys and they been winning championships the last decade.

Lebron, KD, Kawhi...

one could argue Steph but that first finals run they won without KD I'm now 100% sure they would have lost if Kyrie and Love were healthy.

We were capable of competing with them if we played together but not how we played vs Bucks.

talent wise yes.

especially if Hayward plays like he is paid to.  D minus ....no leadership and not calling for the ball and making us better in playoffs.

DA lets all the other teams get better for a title run ,  they destroyed the Celtics building up for the playoff.  DA left the Celtics a day late and dollar short

Ultimately, NO ....because they had too, many selfish personal issues and Brad could not unite them into a cohesive team .  Failures on so,many levels.   I also blame Lebron and his mob ....they set off all the bad vibs around the league early with trying to jump the gun early with a Davis trade .  Soon as that hit , players on Both clubs were in th news too much.

One could also argue that the second finals run they would have won with Draymond Green.

I would say the Celtics couldn't beat Toronto--they are way too strong up front.

I would also say the Warriors are going to need Durant to beat them. They probably would have the first game  if Durant had played.  The series could depend on how quickly KD comes back.

Which brings me to the Celtics aversion for length. Apparently they could have drafted this guy, but went in a different direction. Ainge seemed  to go for length picking Williams, but he never got a real shot to fill their gaping need for a paint defender.

Which leads me to wonder if Ainge is on the same page as Stevens on the subject of length. As I recall, Ainge said personnel decisions are made jointly by him and Stevens. Was that the case here?

both tatum and brown have 7 ft long arm spans

Robert Williams has one of the longest arm spans in the past few years as well

That bothers me. I still see Robert Williams able to become a quality rim protector like Myles Turner. He just needs to get the time and trust of his coach. Turner is a better free throw shooter and is able to stretch the floor (even from 3), but Williams is a better rebounder and passer.

Enough with all the small ball stuff. We see that it doesn't work anymore. All the topteams play with two bigs or at least an elite center (example: Embiid) in their starting/most used line-ups.

Toronto: Siakam + Gasol/Ibaka
Golden State: Green + Cousins/Looney
Milwaukee: Giannis/Mirotic + Lopez
Portland: Aminu/Leonard + Kanter/Collins
Philadelphia: Harris + Embiid
Houston: Tucker + Capela
Denver: Millsap + Jokic/Plumlee

and

Boston: Morris + Horford/Baynes

From all the teams that won a playoff series this year, the Celtics have by far the smallest front court.
